About me and my therapy practice
Everyone calls me Nat for short, so feel free to do the same.
If you're here, I imagine you feel lost, overwhelmed, stuck, or all of the above. Having been there myself, I know just how exhausting that can be! I also know the value of having someone to share the load with when your thoughts start to spiral, and that's where counselling can help.
Experience:
I started out as a general counsellor, and continue to offer support to anyone needing a place to talk things through, whether that's about self-confidence, anxiety, feeling sad, or navigating difficult life changes.
Over the years, I've found that I work well with people who need time to let their guard down, and prefer a gentle pace, especially those who have experienced abuse, neglect, or harm in relationships, and may feel unsafe with others, unable to switch off, or disconnected from themselves.
I'm also passionate about working with queer identity and neurodiversity, as well as anyone who feels like they're living in a system that wasn't built for them. As someone who often hasn't fit the mainstream mould, I know how important it is to have a place where you can drop the masks, talk without a filter, and not have to justify yourself.
I'm keen that you find the right counsellor for you, and sometimes that's more about personality than experience. I always work hard to understand and educate myself on different perspectives/life experiences, so welcome you reaching out even if your struggles aren't listed.
Qualifications:
- MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy - Keele Uni
- Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling - Keele Uni
- BA (Hons) Business Management (MMU)
I've also completed specific training in Trauma, Abuse, C-PTSD, Neurodivergence-affirming Counselling, and Relationship Counselling.
Practice description
People come to counselling for lots of different reasons, so how we approach things depends on what feels appropriate for you. This could involve exploring emotions or memories that feel heavy or consuming, understanding yourself or your situation more clearly, finding a new perspective, setting goals, or simply having the space to vent, cry, laugh, or swear!
We also don't have to focus on a specific goal or problem. For some, having regular check-ins can help with managing life's ongoing messiness.
I would describe my approach as a thoughtful conversation rather than one that's based heavily on techniques or exercises, and I believe that trust and human connection are the most important part of what we do.
If you choose me as a counsellor, I hope you'll find me to be calm, friendly, and highly open-minded. I value being straightforward and transparent, and aim to provide a space where you can share whatever's on your mind, without being dismissed or judged.
As we talk, I'll sometimes ask questions, make observations, or offer a different perspective, but won't patronise you or pressure you into anything that doesn't feel right.
