Availability
I offer counselling for teenagers and young adults both within school hours and after school in the Tynemouth office, depending on availability and individual needs. Where appropriate, I can work collaboratively with schools and pastoral teams to offer the counselling sessions within the school building.
About me and my therapy practice
Before training as a therapist, I worked within education, which gave me valuable insight into the emotional pressures many young people face both inside and outside of school. I understand that behaviour, withdrawal, anxiety, low mood, anger, or avoidance are often expressions of something deeper, and that experiences which may seem minor to adults can feel incredibly significant and overwhelming to a young person.
I understand that not every teenager finds it easy to express themselves directly, so sessions can include conversation, creative activities, psychoeducation, reflective exercises, or simply providing a calm space to think and process without pressure.
I work with a range of difficulties including:
Anxiety and panic
Low mood and depression
Self-esteem and confidence
Friendship and relationship difficulties
Emotional overwhelm
School stress and pressure
Identity and life transitions
Family changes and attachment difficulties
Neurodiversity-related challenges
School avoidance and emotionally based school anxiety
Alongside supporting young people, I also recognise the importance of working thoughtfully with parents and schools where appropriate, while ensuring the young person has a confidential space that feels truly their own.
My aim is to help young people feel more understood, more emotionally equipped, and less alone in what they are experiencing.
Practice description
My approach is relational, compassionate, and tailored to the individual. I believe that feeling genuinely heard and emotionally safe is the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work. Some young people arrive ready to talk openly, while others need time to build trust first. I work at the young person’s pace and adapt session styles to suit their personality and needs.
