About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Gemma, Welcome to The Quiet Space. I am a Neuro- Affirming practitioner offering counselling to adults & young people in a welcoming, private setting near Deal. I also offer online sessions via Zoom for your convenience.
Being human can be complex—let’s explore that through connection. I believe healing comes through our connections with others, and understanding our emotions is key. By giving voice to our inner world, we gain the self-awareness needed to move forward in whatever way feels right.
I work with a broad range of issues: Burnout, Relationship Issues / Patterns. Abuse, Identity Issues, Rejection Sensitivity, Anxiety, Stress Related Issues/ Domestic Abuse, Low self-worth, Loss of Confidence/ ADHD/Autism/AuDHD.
Or, if you are unsure of what you need, but need a 'quiet space' to voice something that is extremely painful, I will hold space.
As a neuro-affirming therapist, I recognise the importance of being understood—especially the feelings of being misunderstood. I work with both diagnosed and undiagnosed clients with ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD, supporting them in exploring their unique experiences. I’m experienced in helping clients navigate the effects of long-term masking, Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, nervous system overwhelm, and burnout.
My room is quiet and softly lit, offering a calm environment where you can feel soothed, supported, and held in the therapeutic journey.
My approach is to explore your experience, tailoring therapy to your unique needs. I understand how daunting it can be to speak with a stranger, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive space for you. Clients describe me as empathic & easy to talk to.
In our work together, you’ll begin to understand and empower yourself. I want you to feel safe in our relationship. This is a collaborative process, with you leading the way and working at your pace. The goal is to help you move forward, gain coping mechanisms, and develop the awareness needed to manage life effectively.
Practice description
My Neuro- Affirming Practice/ The Quiet Space provides a safe space- where you can feel held. When the outside world feels overwhelming, come find the space to be heard and work through what you need to heal.
I offer short term / minimum of 6/8 and long term therapy. After 6 Sessions progress will be revised and resumed to weekly moving forward with the therapeutic goal. Sessions are 55 minutes each week at a regular time/day. When we meet we will discuss what has been going on for you, the issues, as well as looking at what you would like from counselling.
As well as running my private practice I have also worked for The East Kent College Group counselling young people, adults and staff. This was a highly fulfilling role. Prior to my counselling career, I worked with survivors of domestic abuse for 7 years. I feel this has helped with knowledge & experience of this issue, as well as understanding how mental health can be affected.
How do I get in touch?
You can message or email me I will respond with 24 hours.
I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation via the telephone or zoom. This is so we can discuss what has brought you to therapy, your expectations, concerns, issues, goals. During this I will do a small assessment, it will include things such as previous counselling experience, presenting issues, goals etc. This helps me to build a profile of your needs to ensure I can help you the best way possible.
If you feel happy to go ahead, we will arrange a time, day, frequency together. There is no obligation if also you would like to take your time think about it, or explore other counsellors. Counselling is a personal process and I feel the success of the therapy relies greatly on the relationship between us.
My first session
I understand how daunting it can feel to confide in at first a stranger. I want you to feel welcomed and safe to explore your concerns with me.
Our first session is where we will meet, get to know one another, and begin to develop a relationship together. We will look at what has brought you to counselling and begin to explore the issue in hand together. I will talk to you about confidentiality, and we will contract together. I want you to feel informed from our first session, so please ask as may questions as you needs. From there the sessions are for you to bring what you need.
Our work together will be unique to you. Each person is unique and therefore so will be the therapy. Whatever it is, bring what you need, I am here for you.
