About me and my therapy practice
Looking for a therapist on a site like this can feel quite daunting, even a bit overwhelming - I get that, as I've been there myself. You might be wondering if I'm the right fit for you. If any of the below resonate, I could be:
- You’re in your 20s or 30s and you’re looking for a therapist who feels a bit more relatable
- You’re looking for therapy that doesn’t feel too clinical or formal - you want a real human connection
- You want to work with a queer therapist.
I often work with clients who are just about coping with day-to-day life but who are feeling like there’s something they want to heal from, reflect on or change.
It could be that you’ve had a painful life transition, like a break-up, or a loss. It could be that you want a supportive space to explore current or past experiences. It may be that you’re noticing behavioural or relational patterns that you want to work on. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, and want some help getting unstuck.
How can I help?
I’ve been lucky enough to be a therapist for six years now, and I’ve worked with people facing all different kinds of challenges. Some of the more common ones are:
- Anxiety
- Low mood or depression
- Stress
- Loss
- Relationship issues
- Sexuality and gender identity
- Family issues
- Low self-esteem and low self-confidence.
I particularly like supporting people to develop kinder, more accepting relationships with themselves, and this tends to be a theme and focus in my work.
Who am I?
My journey as a therapist began in 2018 when I realised how much I enjoy helping people to heal, grow and overcome the challenges they’re facing. The deeper I went into my training, the more I realised that therapy was the career for me, so I left my job in education and became a therapist.
Over the years, I’ve provided therapy in various settings, including with survivors of domestic abuse and an LGBTQ+ counselling service.
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me out in nature, being a very average plant mum, learning Spanish or setting myself a new challenge.
Practice description
How do I work?
Clients have described me as compassionate, calm and supportive. I care hugely about the clients I work with and, especially in these isolated times, I think it’s the relationship we build together that makes the biggest difference in therapy. Sometimes we all need a safe space where we can heal our wounds, speak openly about what’s going on for us and be supported through difficult times, without worrying that we’ll be judged or shamed.
What can I expect?
I’ll work with you to come to a deeper understanding of the challenges or difficulties you’re experiencing. We’ll identify new perspectives or approaches that can help you move forwards and which will empower you to make positive changes in your life.
I think therapy works best when there's a good balance of support and challenge, so this is something I'll always try to offer you.
Some clients have told me that they didn’t have enough back-and-forth with previous therapists - hopefully you will find that I’m very involved and engaged in our work together. It’s a two-way exchange!
