About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Roxanne.
I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard. I will hold this space for you with care, attention and respect, working alongside you to explore whatever you bring.
You might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of who you are or where to go next. You may be supporting a child or loved one, or navigating your own neurodivergence or diagnosis. Whatever your experience, we can work through it together at your pace.
I work in a collaborative, human-to-human way, allowing you to guide our sessions in the direction you need. I may not always have the answers, but I will work alongside you to help make sense of things and explore potential answers together.
My practice is grounded in honesty, authenticity, warmth and kindness.
In addition to being a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-registered counsellor, I also hold a degree in Psychology, a Masters in Autism, and Level 1 training in Developmental Dyadic Psychotherapy.
Choosing a counsellor can feel daunting. If you’d like to ask any questions or see whether we’re a good fit, please feel free to get in touch.
Practice description
In our work together, you can expect a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you are able to talk openly and at your own pace. I will meet you wherever you are, whether you arrive with something very clear you want to focus on, or you’re unsure where to begin.
Sessions are led by you. I will listen, reflect and gently challenge where appropriate, helping you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. I work in a collaborative, human-to-human way, where we make sense of things together rather than me directing or telling you what to do.
Some clients come with a specific focus, while others use the space more openly to understand themselves better over time. Whatever brings you, we will work in a way that feels right for you.
I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable to be yourself, including bringing the difficult or uncertain parts of your experience. I place importance on building a trusting relationship, as I believe this is central to meaningful therapeutic work.
Drawing on my background in psychology, autism and dyadic approaches, I am mindful of how relationships, past experiences and individual differences can shape how we feel and respond in the present.
You are welcome to take things at your own pace, and there is no expectation to share anything before you feel ready.
My first session
In your first session, there is no expectation to share everything straight away. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, talk through what has brought you to counselling, and begin to explore what you might want from our work together.
We can take things at your pace, and you are free to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. I may ask some gentle questions to help guide the conversation and understand your experience, but there is no formal assessment or pressure.
It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work, and whether the space feels right for you. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have during this time.
If you decide to continue, we can then begin to look at how we might work together in a way that feels supportive and helpful for you.
