About me and my therapy practice

I am an ISTDP therapist who offers individual counselling to adults. I specialise in working with anxiety, attachment trauma, relationship difficulties and depression.

I offer individual counselling/psychotherapy to adults, working compassionately, honestly and with steadiness to support meaningful and lasting change.

Many of the people I work with appear to be managing well on the outside but feel stuck internally. You might notice repeated patterns in relationships, work, or emotional responses that don’t shift, even when you understand them logically.

Starting therapy can be a space to make sense of these patterns and begin to change them in a more lasting way. I am passionate about helping clients develop greater clarity, emotional freedom and a stronger sense of direction in their lives.

We may also look at how earlier experiences continue to shape current emotional reactions and relationship patterns. This is not about blame, but about understanding how protective ways of coping can persist into adult life.

Specialist Advance training

Introduction to Intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP-UK)

ISTDP-London Core training - three years ongoing.

Practice description

I work relationally, paying attention to what is happening between us in the here and now, as this often gives important clues about how you experience relationships outside of therapy.

I work using accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, namely AB-ISTDP (Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). This is a focused and active approach designed to help people get to the emotional roots of difficulties rather than only talking through them or managing symptoms.

Many of the people I work with describe a sense of being stuck in repeated emotional or relational patterns, despite insight or previous attempts to change. These patterns are often linked to emotions that were difficult to process earlier in life and have since become automatic ways of coping.

AB-ISTDP works by paying close attention to what is happening moment-by-moment in the session, helping to bring these emotional processes into focus so they can be understood and worked through. The aim is to create deeper and more lasting change in how you experience yourself and others.

Confidentiality and recordings

As part of this approach, sessions are routinely video recorded, which is standard practice in ISTDP. These recordings support reflective practice and supervision, helping me continue to develop my skills and ensure the quality of the work.

Recordings are stored securely, treated as strictly confidential, and are only used within professional supervision contexts.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and explore what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping for. You do not need to prepare anything in advance, and there is no expectation that you will have everything clearly worked out.

We will usually begin by talking about what feels most difficult at the moment, as well as any relevant background that feels important. I will also share more about how I work and answer any questions you may have about the process.

This session is also a space for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me and whether this way of working feels like a good fit for you.

If we decide to continue, we will agree a regular time to meet, usually weekly or fortnightly, and begin to work more consistently with the patterns and difficulties you have identified.

The focus is not on assessment or judgement, but on beginning to understand your experience in a way that can support meaningful change over time.
