About me and my therapy practice
Hey there, I get it - looking for a therapist can feel a bit like finding a needle in a haystack, so I鈥檒l try my best to keep this simple.
You might be here because something doesn鈥檛 feel quite right, even if you can鈥檛 fully put your finger on it. You may find yourself overthinking, second-guessing, or telling yourself that you should just get on with things. Sometimes people come to me saying, 鈥渢his might sound weird,鈥 or 鈥淚 don鈥檛 even know where to start鈥 - and that鈥檚 absolutely okay. It doesn鈥檛 have to come out neatly or make perfect sense. We can work through it together.
My approach is very down-to-earth and rooted in person-centred counselling, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. Rather than telling you what you should do, I鈥檒l work alongside you to help you make sense of things in a way that feels right for you. I may also bring in other ideas or approaches where it feels helpful to the work we鈥檙e doing together. I also work in a trauma-informed way, which means I鈥檓 mindful of creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and manageable for you.
Practice description
For some people, having the space to talk things through is enough. Others find it helpful to look at some more practical ways of managing things like overthinking, low mood, or day-to-day stress. We can find a balance that works for you.
In terms of how it works, we keep things flexible. There鈥檚 no set number of sessions, and you鈥檙e not tied into anything long-term. Some people prefer weekly sessions, others fortnightly, and sometimes this changes over time - we can figure that out together based on what you need.
I currently offer sessions over the telephone. Many people find this feels more relaxed than video - there鈥檚 no pressure to be on camera, and it can be easier to open up when you鈥檙e in your own space. It also means you can focus more fully on what you鈥檙e feeling, without distraction.
I offer a student rate of 拢40 per session for trainee counsellors.
My first session
I know reaching out can feel like a big step, especially if you鈥檙e more used to being there for other people. I offer a free 15 minute introductory call - a chance for us to have an initial chat, and to see whether it feels like the right fit for you.
