About me and my therapy practice

A common concern for many of my clients is 'relationships' - those we have with others and the ones we have with ourselves. Love, loss, grief, the dormant parts of us we'd like to resurrect, and the bits we're glad to leave behind.

In our sessions you will receive empathy, acceptance, and gentle challenge - all important for therapeutic change.

Aspects of life I regularly work with include: grief and loss, relationships and attachment, loneliness and self-esteem, life stages, abuse and trauma, anxiety and depression.

I am trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and LGBTQ+ inclusive. If you are autistic or have ADHD, I will do all that I can to make you comfortable and accommodate your needs.

Practice description

The counselling sessions I offer last 50 minutes, but can be shorter or longer according to need. Sessions typically happen weekly or fortnightly, you choose.

Providing a mix of person-centred and psychodynamic counselling, I offer online, phone and outdoor sessions, with a free introductory call as standard.

Pricing: £50 per 50-minute session.

My qualifications and CPD:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative)

  • BA (Hons) Social Science
  • Certificate in Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Certificate in Working Therapeutically with Autistic Clients
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
  • Suicide Awareness and Safety Planning
  • An Introduction to Breathwork

I have been counselling people since 2021 and running my private practice since 2023.

An integrative counsellor, my therapeutic approach is a blend of person-centred and psychodynamic, and through a trauma-informed lens.

In essence, this means that we focus on the present and what you're finding most difficult; and, where relevant, apply meaning and understanding to this by exploring the past. All at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Alongside counselling, I have a working knowledge of health and social care, having spent 15 years in a variety of roles in those sectors. My experience left me with deep insight into the wide-ranging needs of people and the challenges faced in getting those needs met.

Prior to this, I spent over five years working in an investment management team, providing support to fund managers. I was like a fish out of water, but really enjoyed the insights it gave me into a world I otherwise had no connection to.

I have provided counselling in a prison, and currently support a bereavement charity.

I feel like I've done a lot, but have finally found my home.

My first session

Our first session is an Introductory Call on phone or Zoom, and is free of charge.

This call enables us to get to know each other a little. You will describe your reasons for coming to counselling and what you're seeking. I will explain my ways of working and the ethical requirements I adhere to. Together we will discuss how sessions might be organised to best suit you.

The introductory call is important, and a good way of us checking if I am the right counsellor for you at this time.

During this call, we may also agree on a preferred time and day for your first full counselling session.

I look forward to meeting you.
