About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Sarah, a ÌÇÐĹÙÍø-registered counsellor and psychotherapist supporting teenagers, young adults, and adults with anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment difficulties, low self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or struggling to make sense of difficult experiences from the past. Perhaps you're finding relationships challenging, coping with a bereavement, navigating school, university or work pressures, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others.
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s been going on at a pace that feels right for you. My approach is person-centred, relational, and trauma-informed, meaning therapy is tailored to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Together, we can explore patterns, relationships, emotions, and experiences that may be affecting your wellbeing. My aim is to help you develop greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and confidence, while supporting you to make sense of what has happened and move forward in a way that feels manageable.
My professional background includes working with teenagers and adults across public service, education, and therapeutic settings. I also have experience supporting autistic and ADHD clients and understand the importance of adapting therapy to meet individual needs.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Dukinfield, Cheshire, as well as online and telephone sessions across the UK.
If you are considering therapy, you are welcome to get in touch for a free 25–30 minute initial consultation. This provides an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
Practice description
My approach is person-centred, relational, and trauma-informed. This means therapy is guided by your individual needs, experiences, and goals, rather than following a fixed agenda or one-size-fits-all approach.
I believe that meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we will create a safe and supportive space where you can explore thoughts, feelings, relationships, and life experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Alongside person-centred therapy, I draw on a range of integrative approaches, including attachment-informed, compassion-focused, and trauma-informed ways of working. Where appropriate, I may also incorporate creative or reflective techniques to support exploration and understanding.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, or a significant life transition, my role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences and discover what feels right for you.
Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs. Throughout our work together, my aim is to provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to be yourself, develop greater self-understanding, and move forward with increased confidence and emotional wellbeing.
My first session
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free 25–30 minute initial consultation via telephone or secure video call. In-person consultations may also be available on request, subject to availability.
This provides an opportunity for us to discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and whether working together feels like the right fit. There is no obligation to continue following the consultation, and you are welcome to take time to consider whether you would like to proceed.
If you decide to begin therapy, our first session will focus on getting to know you and understanding what has brought you to counselling. Together, we will explore your goals, discuss any questions you may have, and begin to build a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs.
Sessions are typically held weekly, although this can be discussed depending on your circumstances and preferences. You will also have access to your own secure client portal where you can view available appointments and manage your bookings, offering flexibility around work, school, college, university, and family commitments.
