About me and my therapy practice

Living with trauma, anxiety or depression can feel exhausting and overwhelming, affecting both your mind and body. You may find yourself constantly overthinking, feeling on edge, emotionally numb, or weighed down by sadness. Your body may feel tense, restless or exhausted, with symptoms such as a racing heart, tightness in your chest, headaches, muscle aches, difficulty sleeping, or a constant sense of being alert or "stuck" in survival mode. You may struggle with panic, difficult memories, low self-esteem, or feel disconnected from yourself and those around you. It may feel as though you're simply surviving rather than thriving.

You may feel isolated, misunderstood, or unsure where to turn. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it alone. I offer a safe, supportive and compassionate space where we can gently explore your experiences, make sense of your emotions and physical responses, and help you reconnect with yourself. Together, we can work towards healing, renewed hope and a life that feels calmer, more balanced and fulfilling.

Supporting people who have experienced trauma is a particular passion of mine. I recognise the far-reaching effects trauma can have on both the mind and body, influencing emotional wellbeing, relationships and everyday life. To ensure I offer the highest standard of care, I continually invest in my professional development through ongoing specialist training in trauma-informed practice, integrating current research and therapeutic approaches into my work.

My practice is grounded in an integrative, client-centred approach, guided by strong professional ethics, confidentiality and clear boundaries. Every person is unique, so I tailor therapy to your individual needs, drawing upon a range of therapeutic approaches and creative interventions where these may enhance your journey. My goal is to help you feel empowered, develop greater self-awareness, and move towards a life that feels more balanced, hopeful and fulfilling.

Practice description

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you've never spoken to someone about your experiences before. Many people tell me, "I don't like talking about myself." Please don't let that worry you. My role is to create a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work we do together.

I support young people and adults experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, emotional distress, relationship difficulties and life transitions. Whether your struggles stem from a single significant event or years of difficult experiences, therapy can help you make sense of what you're feeling and begin to move forward.

With over 20 years' experience working within the NHS—and more than 30 years supporting children, young people and adults—I have extensive experience working alongside individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), long-term health conditions and complex emotional needs.

For children and young people who have experienced traumatic events, I am trained in the Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT), an evidence-based approach designed to support recovery from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Trauma in a safe, age-appropriate and compassionate way.

Choosing a counsellor is an important decision, and it's essential that you feel comfortable with the person you work with. If you have any questions about counselling, the support I offer, or how I work, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd be happy to answer your questions and help you decide whether I'm the right counsellor for you.

My first session

Before your first session, I'll send you a secure link by email or message with two forms to complete. Please don't worry if this feels a little overwhelming, I’m happy to support you with them if needed.

The first is a Counselling Agreement, which explains how I work, including information about confidentiality, data protection, and what you can expect from our sessions.

The second is an Information Form, where I'll ask for some practical details such as your contact information, relevant medical history, GP details, and an emergency contact. This information helps ensure I can provide you with safe and appropriate support.

During your first session, we'll take time to explore the areas of your life that have brought you to counselling. Together, we'll gather an understanding of your experiences, concerns and goals. This initial conversation also helps me develop the most appropriate therapeutic approach, ensuring that our work together is tailored to your individual needs.
