Availability

I currently have availability for new clients and welcome enquiries from adults, young people, and children.

I work Monday to Friday, with appointments available between 10:00am and 9:00pm. This means I can work around clients who are at work during the day as well as those who prefer later in the evening.

Sessions are available in person at my practice in Anfield, Liverpool (L4), or online via secure video call - whichever suits you best. Online sessions are available to clients anywhere in the UK.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation call with no obligation and no pressure. It's simply a chance to get a feel for how I work, ask any questions, and decide if you'd like to take it further. You can book this directly through my website at davidlewiscounselling.com.

If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, or you're not sure where to start, please just get in touch. I'll do my best to point you in the right direction even if working together isn't the right fit.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a person-centred and humanistic counsellor based in Anfield, Liverpool. I work with adults, young people, and children experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, bereavement, men's mental health issues, pregnancy and infant loss, low self-worth, addiction, anger, and stress.

Person-centred counselling means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to direct or advise - it's to walk alongside you and offer a genuinely safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what you're carrying and find your own way through it.

I am calm and softly spoken, and clients often tell me they feel more settled just being in the space we share. If you're not sure what you're feeling, or you struggle to find the words, that's okay - we can work with that.

I draw on trauma-informed practice and creative therapeutic tools including emotion cards, emotion wheels, self-reflection activities, and creative expression - always led by what feels right for you.

I hold specialist qualifications in pregnancy and infant loss, rainbow babies, and infertility, and I have a particular interest in the grief men often carry silently after pregnancy loss - something that is rarely acknowledged.

I work with anxiety and panic attacks, depression and low mood, post-traumatic stress, OCD, bereavement, relationship difficulties, identity issues, work-related stress, and more. I also work with children and young people using play-based and creative approaches.

I hold a first-class BSc (Hons) in Counselling and have experience in NHS primary care, university mental health, and school settings. ÌÇÐĹÙÍø registered, accreditation in progress.

Practice description

I work from a private, quiet practice in Anfield, Liverpool (L4), accessible by public transport with parking available nearby. The space is designed to feel as comfortable and safe as possible - somewhere you can genuinely relax and be yourself.

Online sessions are available UK-wide via secure video call and work in exactly the same way as in-person sessions. Many clients find online working suits their lifestyle, and the therapeutic relationship is just as strong.

Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £50. A concession rate of £40 is available for students, NHS workers, and those on a low income - please mention this when you get in touch.

I work with adults, young people, and children of all ages. Sessions for younger clients use creative and play-based approaches tailored to their age and stage.

I typically offer weekly or fortnightly sessions - there is no fixed number. Some people benefit from short-term focused work; others prefer longer-term support. We find what works for you.

I uphold ÌÇÐĹÙÍø ethical standards, maintain full GDPR compliance, hold current Safeguarding Level 3 qualifications, and carry full professional indemnity insurance. Confidentiality is central to our work together, and I will always explain clearly the limited circumstances in which it may need to be broken.

I see clients from Anfield, Kirkdale, Everton, Walton, Bootle, Maghull, and across Liverpool and Merseyside in person, and online clients from anywhere in the UK.

My first session

Before your first session, I will send you an online client information form and a therapy contract to complete at your own pace. This means we don't spend valuable session time on paperwork - you arrive ready to begin.

The first session starts with a brief, relaxed reminder of the key practicalities: our commitment to the work together, the cancellation policy, and most importantly the confidentiality agreement - including the specific circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken. I want you to feel fully informed and safe before we go any deeper.

From there, the session is yours. There is no formal assessment or structured intake process - I simply invite you to share whatever feels right at that moment. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to talk about. Others aren't sure where to start. Both are completely fine.

The first session costs £50, the same as all subsequent sessions. Before booking, I offer a free 20-minute consultation call where you can get a feel for how I work and ask any questions - with no commitment or pressure to proceed.

Please note my cancellation policy: I require a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may incur the full session fee. I will always aim to be flexible where genuine emergencies arise.
