About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, I’m Heather.
People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. You might be carrying something that has happened recently, struggling with something that has followed you for years, or simply have a sense that things aren’t quite how you’d like them to be.
Whatever brings you here, my aim is to offer a relationship where you can speak openly and be met with warmth, acceptance and genuine curiosity. I won’t tell you what to do or claim to have the answers to your life. Instead, I’ll work alongside you as you explore your experiences, make sense of your feelings and discover what matters most to you.
Sometimes our conversations may turn towards the past and the ways earlier experiences continue to shape the present. At other times, we may focus on what is happening right now. There is no set agenda and no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready.
I know that contacting a counsellor can feel like a significant step. Finding someone you feel comfortable with is important, and I encourage you to trust your instincts. The counselling relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapeutic work, so it matters that you feel able to be yourself.
Whether you’re facing a particular challenge, navigating change, or wanting a deeper understanding of yourself, I offer a space where we can explore whatever is important to you, together.
Practice description
I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on what you require, and I can be flexible if you are not sure what you need.
I offer both in-person (based in Kilmacolm) and video sessions. Some people come weekly or fortnightly for a period of focused work, and whilst that can be enough for some, others return periodically when they feel they would benefit from a check-in. I'm very happy to accommodate both.
My first session
Before we arrange a first session, we’ll have a brief introductory call. I find it helpful for you to have the opportunity to meet me, ask any questions you may have, and get a feel for whether I seem like someone you could work with. Finding the right counsellor matters, and I believe it’s important that you have the space to make that decision for yourself.
The first session isn’t a test, an assessment, or a requirement to tell me your whole story. Instead, it’s a chance for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what’s brought you to counselling at this point in your life.
Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to work on, while others simply know that something doesn’t feel right. Both are equally welcome. We’ll start wherever feels most comfortable for you, and together we’ll begin to build a picture of what’s going on and what you might need from our work together.
Occasionally I may offer a reflection, a worksheet, or a gentle invitation to continue thinking about something between sessions. These are always optional and offered only where they feel useful.
Above all, I hope you leave that first session feeling that you’ve been listened to carefully, understood as a person, and that you have a better sense of what our work together will look like.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer person-centred supervision to counsellors and trainees who are looking for a supportive, thoughtful space to reflect on their work.
My approach to supervision is grounded in collaboration, curiosity, and support for you as a practitioner. I see supervision as a shared space where we can explore your client work, your responses, and your development in a way that feels meaningful and useful to you.
Practice description
I aim to offer a safe space where you can share the full reality of your practice - the uncertainties and uncomfortable moments as well as the moments of clarity and connection. Together,we can explore what is going on in your client work, what it stirs in you, and how that might shape your growth as a practitioner.
Supervision can sometimes bring challenge as well as support, and my aim is for us to build a relationship where that feels like something we can do safely and comfortably.
At the heart of my practice is a belief in your own capacity to reflect, develop, and find your way in your work. My role is to support that process, stay alongside you, and help create space for further discovery and insight.
I look foward to working with you!
My first session
Before we arrange our first supervision session, we’ll have an introductory call. This gives you the opportunity to meet me, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you as a supervisor. Finding the right supervisory relationship for you, that feels supportive and collaborative, is crucial, and I understand if you want to speak to a few supervisors before deciding.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each another, explore your practice and understand what you are hoping to gain from supervision. And if you are unsure what you want or need from it, we can chat that through together.
Our first session will also be used to agree the practical and ethical aspects of our work together such as contracting and responsibilities, and how we can co-create a supervisory relationship that feels safe, open, and effective.
