Availability

I currently offer daytime sessions 9am-2pm and sessions on selected evenings up to 9pm. Please message to find out my current availability.

I offer online and phone sessions with flexible availability. I understand family or work commitments can mean it may be difficult to attend a set time each week so I aim to fit sessions around your schedule.

About me and my therapy practice

I understand the people who constantly try so hard with everything, but are often left feeling disappointed with themselves like they haven't done enough. I specialise in supporting issues related to anxiety, family issues and relationship dynamics. Alongside this I gently support people feeling overwhelmed and dissatisfied with the daily juggle of balancing work pressures, relationships, family life and everything else.

I have a bit of a unique background as I have a scientific background (with degrees in Genetics and Biosciences) before becoming a qualified counsellor, integratively practicing in person centred and interpersonal therapy approaches. This allows me to gently provide a scientific approach to my sessions alongside the therapeutic techniques I use. I also have specialist experience related to working with historical trauma, interpersonal relationships, pregnancy, parenting and issues related to neurodiversity and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

My private therapy practice draws on my previous and current professional experiences. These include working with NHS patients, perinatal mental health, historical trauma, neurodiversity and parent carers in a SEND school environment. These have provided me a deep understanding of the challenges individuals and families face, which I bring into every session to offer thoughtful, personalised support.

I offer flexibility, time and space to explore whatever challenges you may be facing. With experience supporting a wide range of clients and concerns, I tailor my approach to meet each clients individual needs from our sessions together.

Practice description

I currently offer sessions in the daytime and selected evenings. All sessions are conducted remotely via video (MS Teams) or the telephone. This allows my clients the freedom to choose your own location.

This works well if you need to fit sessions around busy lifestyle, work or family commitments. Clients often book sessions around work hours, after dropping children at school or putting them to bed and I’m flexible to accommodate your needs around timings.

You are also welcome to have younger children present during your sessions as I understand childcare is not always available.

I work with clients local to East Yorkshire and also nationally across the UK.

My first session

In our first session we get to know each other a little and I work to understand the current issues that are problematic in your life. We will also review how much the problems are affecting daily life via a simple questionnaire I send in advance of the session.

During the initial session we can talk through your hopes and expectations from therapy and answer any questions you might have. Then if you feel comfortable with moving forwards with counselling we use the last part of the session to plan how we can work towards your goals over our future sessions.

If you would like a short complimentary phone call prior to booking your first session with me I am happy to offer this on request. This gives a quick opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for what working with me may be like for you.

You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disappointed in yourself or let down by others. I offer a calm, supportive space where we can explore what's happening for you and work towards meaningful change together.

I work integratively, meaning I combine the different therapeutic approaches I am qualified in to provide personalised sessions tailored to each client's individual needs, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

My professional experience includes delivering therapy with the NHS, charity sector and also SEND education environment. These experiences have given me a depth and breadth of the challenges individuals and families face, which I bring into every session to offer thoughtful, personalised support.

I offer flexibility, time and space to explore whatever you may be currently facing at your own pace. I tailor my approach to meet each client's individual needs and goals so your sessions feel personal, collaborative and supportive.
