About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Patrick, and a warm welcome to my profile.

If you're feeling confused or anxious, overwhelmed, stressed or a little lost right now, are finding it difficult to gain any clarity on your situation and feel you might benefit from some gentle yet focussed support, please get in touch.

As your counsellor I'll provide a space in which you feel met with warmth, respect and empathy, no matter what might be going on for you right now.

I like to think of this as a simple but deeply human stance, a stance that holds at its heart a person's own, inherent resourcefulness for gaining the understanding and clarity they need to then make the choices that lead on towards an increasingly satisfying, fulfilling experience.

Thus, our counselling relationship becomes a trusted space in which you are supported and encouraged to explore and make sense of your present world, to re-engage with what is authentic to you, re-establish trust in your own values, belliefs and judgements and move towards a way of living that is true to you.

Practice description

Approaching counselling can feel like a big step - we might feel as if we should have all the answers ourself - and I absolutely get understand.  Yet we all experience times when life circumstances lead to increasing confusion and anxiety, overwhelm and stress in which we can struggle to gain any clarity on the best way forward for ourself.

Counselling provides a precious opportunity to begin to acknowledge and accept who we are and where we are - as a necessary foundation upon which we can then begin to make sense of our present experience, in the light of which our next steps will naturally be illuminated.

If you feel you'd like to safely dip a toe into what's going on for you right now please get in touch and book a free 60min online introductory session.

I'm qualified to Diploma and Foundation degree levels in person-centred counselling and integrative approaches, am a Registered Member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø, and continue to develop myself personally and professionally in respect of self-reflection, supervision, ongoing training workshops and am currently training in Integrative Psychotherapy.

My first session

Our "first" session is likely to be a free introductory session, in which you have the opportunity to discuss what's going on for you right now, and we'll also get a sense of whether we're a good "fit" for working together.  I’ll also talk a little about how I work, and of the expectations and goals of counselling you have at the start.

Our first session proper would initially see us deciding upon a working agreement together, discussing client confidentiality and other aspects of the therapeutic relationship we’re establishing.
