About me and my therapy practice

I am trained in Person-Centred Therapy, a humanistic approach developed in the 1940s by American psychologist Carl Rogers. At the heart of this theory is the belief that every individual has an innate ability to grow, heal, and move toward fulfilling their true potential—a process Rogers called self-actualisation. He believed that, when offered the right therapeutic conditions—such as empathy, acceptance, and genuine understanding—people are naturally capable of finding their own answers and becoming their most authentic selves. As a counsellor, my role is to provide that supportive, non-judgmental space where this growth can take place at your own pace.

Practice description

I offer a safe, secure, and supportive space where you—whether as an individual or as part of a couple—can explore the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may be troubling you. This is a non-judgmental environment where you can speak openly, knowing you will be heard and respected. Together, we’ll identify the challenges you’re facing and work through emotional difficulties that may be impacting your life or relationships.

Our work is confidential, and your privacy is treated with the utmost care. There are a few rare exceptions to confidentiality—such as situations involving risk of harm—all of which will be clearly explained during our first session so you feel informed and comfortable.

Through counselling, I aim to support you in developing greater self-awareness—helping you understand how your past experiences and unconscious patterns may be influencing your present. This insight can be empowering, allowing you to discover more effective ways of coping and responding to life’s challenges.

I offer both individual and couples therapy. Whether you're seeking personal growth or navigating specific issues such as communication breakdowns, trust concerns, or emotional disconnection, I’m here to support you in working toward clarity, healing, and positive change—at your pace, and on your terms.

My first session

I offer an initial telephone assessment, lasting around 15 to 20 minutes, as a first step in getting to know each other. This informal conversation gives us both a chance to introduce ourselves and briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy at this time. It's an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the process, and for me to explain how I work. Most importantly, it helps us get a sense of whether we feel comfortable working together, as the therapeutic relationship is a key part of successful therapy.

If we feel it’s a good fit, we can then arrange our first face-to-face session. In this initial meeting, we take some time to explore your needs in more depth and look at what you hope to gain from therapy. We’ll also go through a working agreement together, which outlines the practical aspects of our sessions—such as confidentiality, session timings, fees, and cancellation policies—so that everything is clear and transparent from the outset.

Once the agreement is in place, we can begin our work together in a more structured way. We’ll look at booking a number of sessions that suit your availability and needs. These can be scheduled on a weekly or fortnightly basis, and having them diarised in advance helps to provide a consistent, stable space for the work to unfold. From there, we begin the therapeutic journey together, creating a space where meaningful exploration and change can take place at your own pace.

About me and my therapy practice

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. You may be struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-confidence, or simply feeling that something in life is not quite where you would like it to be. Whatever has brought you here, therapy offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and better understand yourself in a supportive and confidential environment.

My role is not to tell you what to do or to offer quick fixes. Instead, I work alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences, identify patterns that may be holding you back, and discover new ways of responding to life's challenges. I believe that when people feel genuinely heard and understood, they are often able to find their own answers and create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy and supported by integrative counselling techniques, allowing me to tailor our work to your individual needs. Every person is different, and I believe therapy should reflect that. Whether you are facing a specific issue or seeking greater self-awareness and personal growth, our sessions will be shaped around what matters most to you.

Counselling is not only about working through difficulties. It can also be a space to recognise your strengths, celebrate your achievements, clarify your goals, and gain a deeper appreciation of who you are and where you are in life. Sometimes therapy is about healing; sometimes it is about growth; often it is both.

Confidentiality is central to the counselling relationship, and creating a trusting environment is a priority in my work. I aim to provide a professional, warm, and respectful space where you can speak openly, feel listened to, and explore whatever is important to you at your own pace.

Together, we can work towards greater clarity, confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of direction for the future.

I work with adults from all backgrounds who are looking for space to explore and better understand their experiences. I support many male clients and recognise that some men feel more comfortable in a male-to-male counselling environment, where they can speak openly about pressures, expectations and emotional wellbeing.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but it is often the beginning of improving mental health, confidence and emotional balance.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Counsellor with a foundation in Person-Centred Therapy, developed by psychologist Carl Rogers. This approach is based on the belief that, given the right environment, each person has the capacity for growth, self-understanding and positive change.

I provide a professional, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel heard. My integrative approach allows me to adapt therapy to your individual needs, helping you gain insight, improve resilience and develop greater self-confidence.

I have particular experience supporting men’s mental health, including anxiety, stress, identity pressures, relationship challenges and difficulties expressing emotions. Therapy offers a confidential space to explore these issues constructively and without judgement.

I work with individuals on a one-to-one basis and also offer couples therapy. Sessions are available in Bournemouth, Poole and Wimborne (Dorset).

My first session

I offer an initial telephone consultation (approximately 15–20 minutes) to understand what has brought you to counselling and whether we feel comfortable working together.

If you decide to proceed, we arrange a first face-to-face session where we discuss how counselling works, agree our contract and begin exploring the areas you would like support with. Ongoing sessions can then be arranged at a pace that feels right for you.

Taking the first step can feel challenging, but you do not have to manage things alone. Counselling provides a supportive and professional space to improve mental health, develop self-understanding and create meaningful change.
