About me and my therapy practice
Attachment based & Somatic therapy
Choosing a counsellor can sometimes feel like a big step. With over 20 years of experience working with the body, I bring a collaborative approach that honours both mind and body, recognising that emotional experiences are not only thought about, but also felt and held within us.
Beginning a journey of self-discovery and healing can be challenging, particularly in the fast-paced world we live in. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you are supported at your own pace. My aim is to empower you to navigate life’s challenges while maintaining your autonomy, agency, and sense of self.
In our work together, we explore not only your thoughts and emotions, but also how stress, anxiety, and past experiences may be stored in the body. Early life experiences, particularly our first relationships, can shape an internal blueprint for how we relate to ourselves and others. These attachment patterns are often held somatically, influencing how safe we feel in connection, how we manage closeness or distance, and how our nervous system responds under stress. Through gentle somatic awareness, we begin to notice where emotions live in the body, how they show up, and what they may be communicating.
Therapy does not have to feel groundbreaking or overwhelming. It can be as simple as developing curiosity about your patterns of behaviour, your emotional responses, and the ways you learned to adapt in order to feel safe or connected. You lead the process, and together we work with whatever you bring into the room, without pressure or expectation.
Practice description
I work from an integrative therapeutic background, drawing on all major counselling theories, with a particular emphasis on attachment theory and somatic work. Together, we explore how early relational experiences may continue to influence present-day patterns in relationships, emotional regulation, and self-worth. This work is always paced carefully, supporting both understanding and embodied processing, rather than re-living or overwhelming the nervous system.
With a specialist interest in the vagus nerve and nervous system regulation, I support clients in building greater capacity for safety, connection, and emotional regulation. This can be particularly helpful for those with attachment wounds, anxiety, or trauma, where the nervous system has learned to stay on high alert or to shut down. Somatic work offers a gentle way to process unheld or unprocessed emotions when talking alone feels difficult, allowing the body to release what it has been carrying.
I have extensive experience working with anxiety and pain, including work within the mental health field abroad. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment difficulties, existential concerns, and a wide range of emotional and relational challenges.
My own experience of therapy was profoundly transformative and became the catalyst for my training as a counsellor. Having walked this path myself, I bring empathy, attunement, and deep respect for the courage it takes to begin.
