About me and my therapy practice

I offer warm, calm and compassionate counselling for adults or young people who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, stuck or disconnected from themselves.

I work from a person-centred integrative approach. This means that I believe you are the expert in your own life and that our relationship will be central to the work we do together. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space in which you can explore your experiences honestly and begin to understand yourself more fully.

You will not be expected to arrive with the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start with whatever feels most important to you. I will listen carefully and work alongside you, gently helping you to notice feelings, experiences and recurring patterns that may be difficult to understand or express.

Over time, counselling may help you understand your feelings and reactions more clearly, recognise patterns that may no longer be helping you, explore your identity and relationships, express your needs more confidently and develop greater self-compassion.

I welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds, relationships and family structures, and aim to offer a space where you can feel respected, accepted and able to be yourself.

Practice description

I work with adults experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, emotional exhaustion, trauma, relationship and family difficulties, workplace stress, redundancy, caring responsibilities, addiction and the impact of another person’s alcohol or drug use.

I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including those who are diagnosed, awaiting assessment or self-identify as neurodivergent. I understand that neurodivergence can affect emotions, relationships, identity, communication and everyday life in different ways.

You may come to counselling with one clearly defined concern or with a sense that several areas of your life have become tangled together. Perhaps you have been holding everything together for a long time, supporting those around you while finding it difficult to make space for your own needs. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My counselling training is grounded in the person-centred approach and informed by integrative practice, allowing me to draw on different ideas and ways of working according to your individual needs and circumstances.

I currently offer online counselling to adults across the UK and am preparing to offer face-to-face sessions in north-east Somerset.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £65. I offer a limited number of concessionary places for people on a low income, trainee counsellors and those who are unemployed, subject to availability.

I hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, am a member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to consider whether working together feels right for you.

You do not need to prepare anything or arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong. I may ask what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for from our work and whether there is anything important you would like me to understand about you. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

We will also discuss how I work, confidentiality and its limits, practical arrangements and any questions or concerns you may have. I will explain our counselling agreement, including session times, fees, cancellations and how we will work together safely online.

There is no expectation that you tell your whole story in the first session. We can begin with what feels most important and move at a pace that feels manageable.

The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual rate of £65. If you are interested in a concessionary place, please ask about availability before booking.

At the end of the session, we can consider whether you would like to continue. There is no obligation to commit to a fixed number of sessions, and we can agree together whether short-term or open-ended counselling may be most suitable for you.
