About me and my therapy practice
For people who seem to be coping on the outside 鈥 but know something isn't quite right underneath.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or exhausted. Perhaps work has become relentless, your confidence has taken a knock, your relationship feels strained, or you've reached a point where you're wondering, "Is this really the life I want?"
From the outside, life may look perfectly fine. You may have a career, responsibilities and people who rely on you. Yet inside, you feel disconnected from yourself, stuck in patterns you don't fully understand, or simply tired of carrying everything alone.
Many of the people I work with have built a life that looks right from the outside but doesn't quite feel like theirs from the inside.
You don't need to have all the answers before starting therapy. Many people come because they know something needs to change, even if they can't yet put it into words.
I'm James, a 糖心官网 Registered Counsellor offering online counselling to adults throughout the UK. I work with people experiencing anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-confidence and major life transitions.
If you're wondering whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free introductory call so we can explore what's bringing you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit.

- Loneliness and isolationCareer uncertainty, redundancy and life transitions

Practice description
My Approach
My work is rooted in a person-centred approach, which means I believe that a genuine therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change.
I aim to offer warmth, honesty and acceptance, creating a space where you don't have to perform, impress or protect anyone else. A space where you can simply be yourself.
Some sessions focus on understanding patterns rooted in the past. Others are more present-focused, exploring what's happening now and how your experiences continue to shape your relationships, emotions and sense of self.
I'm particularly interested in helping people develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion. Therapy isn't about fixing you; it's about understanding yourself with greater honesty and kindness so that new choices become possible.
I'm not directive or prescriptive, but I am engaged, thoughtful and willing to gently challenge when it feels helpful.

Why Work With Me?
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent twenty years working in corporate environments. I understand the realities of demanding careers, organisational change, responsibility and the pressure many people place on themselves to keep going, even when they're struggling.
Clients often tell me they appreciate that I bring warmth, honesty and thoughtful challenge into the therapy room. They describe me as calm, approachable and easy to talk to.
Whether you're experiencing anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or simply feel that something in life isn't working anymore, therapy can provide the opportunity to slow down, make sense of what's happening and move forward with greater clarity.
Therapy can't change what's happened in the past, but it can change the way you understand yourself, your relationships and the choices available to you going forward.
My first session
During our first counselling session together, we will explore what the focus of our work might be and get a sense of what meeting together feels like. This session is not just about me understanding you, but also about you gauging how comfortable and heard you feel with me as your counsellor.
I鈥檒l listen to what鈥檚 brought you to counselling and gently explore what support might be most helpful for you. Then together, we will establish what you would like to get from therapy, and I will work to your agenda.
My style is relaxed, informal, and friendly. Sessions are in confidence with no judgement.
Taking the First Step
Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you're someone who's spent a long time trying to manage things on your own.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to say or have everything worked out before getting in touch.
I offer a free introductory call where we can talk about what's bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
If you'd like to take that first step, I'd be pleased to hear from you.
