About me and my therapy practice
Hi! My name's Ash, and I focus on working with LGBTQ+ clients in Brighton. I'm trans and non-binary, and I take a humanistic approach that emphasises coming alongside clients to explore your world together, rather than providing one-size-fits-all answers.
I'm probably a good fit for you if you're looking to explore trans/queer identities with a therapist who has lived experience of them, if you're dealing with depression & anxiety, or if you want to investigate how best to live within your individual circumstances.
I focus on working creatively alongside clients, working together to explore your unique way of making meaning of the world. I adapt the way we explore to suit you - that might look like talking, roleplay, drawing, creative writing, etc. - but with the essential aim of understanding and taking control over how you interpret the world and how to live your life in the most satisfying way for you.
I have extensive experience of working with neurodivergent clients, and I'll make adaptations where possible to help sessions fit your needs.
If you have any questions, about how I work or about therapy in general, feel free to drop me an email - I'm happy to chat whether or not it leads to us starting sessions.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face therapy. The 'default' is ongoing weekly 50-minute sessions, but we can adjust that to work with your individual needs.
I'm based in the Brighthelm Centre, near Brighton train station, as part of the Queer Therapy Hub. It's a really nice space with full lift access to the room, and easy access to a non-gendered toilet just down the corridor.
I'm currently able to offer a limited number of low-cost slots specifically for trans clients on low incomes. Those are £10-£30 per session, depending on what you feel able to pay.
My first session
It's vital that you feel comfortable with your therapist, so before starting work together I offer a free 30m consultation where you can meet me, ask questions, and decide if you think we'd be a good fit.
At the consultation we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current situation, and what you'd like to achieve from sessions, as well as covering how I work in more detail and giving you the chance to ask any questions you have.
