Availability
I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, providing an opportunity for us to discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to gain from therapy, and whether I feel like the right therapist for you. This is not a counselling session, but rather an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore whether we can work together.
If we decide to proceed, sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly at the same time each week.
I offer counselling online, by telephone, and face-to-face in Tynemouth and Gosforth. Sessions are charged at £70.
Some clients choose to combine online and in-person sessions, and this can be arranged where appropriate.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi and thank you for visiting my profile.
My approach is human centred, compassion focused, and trauma informed. I believe that every person is shaped by their life experiences and has their own unique strengths and challenges. As such, I do not use symptom lists, diagnostic labels, or manualised treatments. If you are looking for a therapist who works in this way, I may not be the best practitioner to support your needs.
Therapy can feel daunting and confusing at first. We will begin by exploring together what brings you to therapy and creating a shared understanding of your unique life story. From here, we can begin to make connections between your history and your present difficulties, whatever they may be. My role is to empower you, offering choices and working together to plan the direction we take in therapy.
I respect and admire the courage it takes to be vulnerable with another human being and I feel honoured when someone chooses to share their story with me. I have taken this step myself a number of times in my life and know what a difficult decision it can be to reach out for support. If you choose to take this step, I look forward to meeting you.

Practice description
My core training is integrative, meaning I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. Rather than applying a single model, I tailor therapy to you, your experiences, and your goals.
My approach is informed by person-centred, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive and transpersonal perspectives. Together, we can explore patterns, relationships, thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that supports greater understanding, self-awareness and meaningful change.
• All sessions are confidential.
• I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (ÌÇÐĹÙÍø).
• I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
• I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
• I hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
I have particular experience supporting men, working with suicidal thoughts, loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and issues relating to identity and self-esteem.
My first session
The first session provides an opportunity for us to begin exploring what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from therapy. We will discuss any difficulties you may be experiencing, relevant aspects of your background, and any goals you would like to work towards.
I will also explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and outline important information such as confidentiality, session arrangements and the counselling agreement.
The first session is also an opportunity for us to consider whether we feel comfortable working together. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, so it is important that you feel able to make an informed decision about whether I am the right therapist for you.
There is no obligation to continue after the first session.

My core training is integrative and takes in elements of person centred, psychoanalytic, humanistic cognitive and transpersonal models. I use these approaches to work out what works best for you and to achieve the outcomes that you desire.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to counselling at this point in your life.
We will discuss the difficulties you are experiencing, any relevant personal history, and what you would like to achieve through therapy. I may ask questions about your relationships, family, work, health and wellbeing to help build a fuller understanding of your situation.
I will explain how I work, discuss confidentiality and its limits, and answer any questions you may have about the counselling process.
The first session also allows us to consider whether we feel comfortable working together. Finding the right therapist is important, and there is no obligation to continue if you decide I am not the right fit for you.
Sessions last 50 minutes and can take place online, by telephone, or face-to-face in Tynemouth or Gosforth in the North East.

About me and my therapy practice
My approach is human-centred, compassion-focused, and trauma-informed. I believe that everyone is shaped by their life experiences and brings their own unique strengths and challenges. Because of this, I don’t work with symptom checklists, diagnostic labels, or manualised treatments. If you’re looking for a therapist who works differently, I might not be the best fit for your needs.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming and confusing. Together, we’ll explore what brings you here and build a shared understanding of your unique life story. From there, we can begin to make connections between your past experiences and the challenges you face today, whatever they may be. My role is to empower you by offering choices and collaborating on the direction our work takes.
I deeply respect and admire the courage it takes to be vulnerable with another person, and I feel honoured when someone chooses to share their story with me. I’ve taken this step myself several times and understand how hard it can be to reach out for support. If you decide to take that step, I look forward to meeting you.
