About me and my therapy practice

I’m a registered therapist with many years of clinical experience, including a long tenure at The Priory, one of the UK’s leading mental health institutions. My training includes CBT, Person-Centred Therapy, DBT and IFS. These approaches inform my work, but I believe therapy is most effective when it is tailored to the individual rather than fitted to a formula.

Outside therapy, I’m also a working musician, a martial arts practitioner, a parent and a grandparent. These aren’t separate from my work as a therapist. They have taught me about discipline, creativity, resilience, relationships, and the many different ways people make sense of themselves and their lives.

Over the years, both professionally and personally, I’ve come to appreciate that life is rarely straightforward. We don’t simply think our way through difficulties. We feel them, carry them in our bodies, and make sense of them through our relationships, experiences and the stories we tell ourselves.

My work integrates mind, body and emotion. I bring clinical experience and real-world understanding in equal measure. I won’t waste your time, but I will give you my full attention.

Practice description

I work exclusively online with clients throughout the UK and Ireland. In my experience, online therapy can be every bit as effective as meeting in person. Many people find that being in their own environment allows them to feel more comfortable, open and able to engage fully in the work.

My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on CBT alongside Person-Centred Therapy, DBT skills and IFS-informed practice. While my work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, I believe people are more than a collection of symptoms. I pay attention not only to what is causing distress, but also to questions of identity, meaning, purpose and relationship.

Therapy is a collaborative process. I will listen carefully, offer honest observations, and work alongside you to understand what is happening and what may need to change. My aim is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and a more sustainable way of moving forward.

Sessions are supportive, practical and direct. I’ll work with you, not at you.

Who I Work With

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, panic, stress, anger, low self-esteem, trauma, and the impact of domestic violence or sexual abuse.

I also have extensive experience working with young adults and people with complex needs through many years in disability services and community outreach programmes.

Whether you’re facing a crisis, struggling with something that has followed you for years, or simply have a sense that something in your life needs attention, therapy can provide a space to understand what is happening and find a way forward.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy.

I’ll want to hear about your current situation, what difficulties you’re facing, and what you hope might be different. There is no need to prepare anything in advance. Simply come as you are.

I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and share my thoughts about what might be helpful. Just as importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

If we decide to work together, we’ll arrange a regular weekly session and begin from there.
