About me and my therapy practice
I am a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapeutic Counsellor which means that I offer a psychospiritual approach to counselling that is supportive of healing, self-discovery and also spiritual development.
Many people come to therapy because they are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, trauma or a sense of feeling stuck. Psychosynthesis addresses these challenges with compassion and care, helping you to understand the patterns, beliefs and emotional wounds that may be limiting your life experience.
A central aim of psychosynthesis is to help you to develop a stronger and more conscious relationship with yourself. As self-awareness grows, people often discover greater freedom, choice, authenticity and ease.
For some people, therapy may also involve exploring spiritual experiences or questions of purpose and identity. Psychosynthesis does not promote any particular spiritual belief or tradition. Instead, it respects each person's unique path and supports them in discovering their own relationship with what they experience as meaningful, sacred or spiritual.
At times, personal growth can involve periods of uncertainty, loss or transition. Psychosynthesis understands these experiences not simply as problems to overcome, but as opportunities for transformation. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space in which difficult feelings can be explored, inner conflicts understood, and new possibilities for living can emerge.
Practice description
Psychosynthesis is a psychospiritual approach to psychotherapy that combines compassionate enquiry with an exploration of the deeper meaning and purpose within our lives. At the heart of the work is the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe and trusting space in which you can explore your experiences, emotions, challenges and aspirations.
Psychosynthesis pays attention to unconscious patterns, beliefs and ways of relating that may have developed through your life experiences that feel troublesome or limiting. By bringing these into awareness, it becomes possible to develop greater freedom, choice and authenticity in how you live.
Overall, Psychosynthesis is about relationship - coming back into relationship with yourself, with others and with your spiritual nature.
Sessions are primarily conversation-based and may also include brief guided meditations, reflective practices, visualisation or somatic awareness exercises where these feel supportive and appropriate for you.
Sessions are 1 hour, and are weekly due to the nature and depth of the modality.
I offer both short-term (6-12 weeks) and longer-term contracts.
Psychosynthesis psychotherapy may not be appropriate for everyone. If you are currently experiencing severe mental health difficulties, psychosis, or are actively struggling with addiction, additional or alternative specialist support may be more suitable at this time. We can discuss your individual circumstances during an initial consultation.
My first session
Following a free initial telephone consultation, our first session will last 90 minutes. This provides an opportunity for us to get to know one another, for me to hear a little about what has brought you to therapy, and for us to explore what you are hoping to gain from the therapeutic process. It is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have and to get a sense of whether psychosynthesis and my way of working feel right for you.
If we decide that we would like to work together, we can agree an initial contract of six sessions and review how things are progressing from there. During the first session, I will also take some basic contact details and talk through the therapy agreement, ensuring that you have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss any needs or requirements you may have. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy, which is why finding a therapist you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process.
