About me and my therapy practice

I use a Humanistic, Client Led and Somatic approach which views each person as a unique individual and allows you the choice to decide who you want to be and how you want to live. I am passionate about supporting the areas that might be taboo or face discrimination; sex and intimacy, ADHD, grief and loss, transitioning/transgender issues, addiction and healing from abuse, to name a few. These kinds of problems deserve a place in the world to be explored, seen and given a voice. My approach also includes somatic awareness, meaning the relationship and experience of the body matters just as much as the mind, and ways to be more present within the body.

I believe that we all deserve to have a voice and agency over our lives, but many of us find ourselves feeling powerless, lost, discontent or in despair. Not only can our personal lives be challenging, the world we live in can make those challenges even harder to overcome. Having a consistent, weekly session just for yourself can create safety and structure.

I am experienced in providing support for LGBTQ+ issues, but anyone is welcome to reach out, whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or otherwise. I am Sex Worker Friendly and a sex positive therapist, I welcome discussion on sexuality or psychosexual issues without judgement or shame.

Practice description

I am qualified in a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Brighton University, which equates to a master's level of training. I am registered with the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and abide by their ethical framework.

Previously, I studied English Literature at degree level and gained an MA in Creative Writing. Expression and having a voice is important to me, and it is just as important that my clients can have expression and a voice in the room with me.

I volunteered with MindOut as a counsellor for more than two years offering LGBTQ+ support to adults of all ages, and I have many years experience working with students and young people who struggle with mental health. My Private Practice also supports this and I work in an LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse friendly therapy hub.

I have years of lived experience, clinical work, research and my own personal therapy. My approach is Humanistic, somatic and client-led, allowing you to take the direction of your counselling rather than me telling you what to do, whilst still offering gentle challenge, curiosity and insights. A Humanistic approach emphasises the importance of having choice and to become our truest selves. I incorporate the mind-body connection and somatic awareness as our embodied experience is just as important as the words we speak.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute phone or Teams consultation to see if we'd like to work together. The first session will involve a brief assessment where I can get a sense of where you're at and what you'd like to explore. The counselling is there to best fit your needs, whether you're looking for a few sessions or want something longer. Sessions will be on the same day and time on a weekly basis.
