About me and my therapy practice

You may be holding things together on the outside while inside finding life much harder. Whether you’re grieving, burnt out, overwhelmed or unsure how life has ended up feeling this way, I can help.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, and it takes courage to recognise you need support. Finding the right counsellor is the first step, and I appreciate you may feel nervous. I’m here to support you, and I look forward to us working together.

I’m a qualified therapeutic counsellor guided by empathy, respect and understanding. I offer a safe, non‑judgemental space where you can explore what matters most to you. My aim is to create a consistent environment of acceptance where you can express yourself freely, navigate challenges and move toward personal growth and wellbeing.

My experience includes:

  • Several years as a bereavement counsellor at St Raphael’s Hospice, Cheam
  • Over 20 years as a Samaritan, supporting people in emotional distress

Before training as a counsellor, I had a long career in UK and international corporate organisations, which deepened my understanding of stress, change and the complexities of human relationships in many areas of life.

I hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have recently completed a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling. My work is grounded in the Person‑Centred Approach, and I integrate Experiential, Gestalt and Psychodynamic ways of working. This allows me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, preferences and pace.

I’m committed to non‑discriminatory practice and welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds and relationship structures.

I am DBS certified and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Practice description

Counselling offers a safe, confidential and non‑judgemental space to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences - including those that feel too difficult to share elsewhere. My approach is warm, steady and grounded, helping you make sense of what you’re going through and what you need right now.

I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen with empathy and support you as you:

  • Explore new perspectives
  • Understand relationship patterns
  • Increase self‑awareness and self‑acceptance
  • Recognise your strengths and resources
  • Develop coping strategies
  • Move forward in a way that aligns with your values

Areas I Frequently Support

Bereavement and loss

I support clients through many forms of bereavement and loss, including the death of a loved one, pet bereavement, and the loss of direction, purpose, careers or relationships. I offer a steady, compassionate space to help you make sense of what you’re feeling and find your way forward.

Workplace challenges

Alongside my therapeutic training, I bring many years of experience across a range of industries. This helps me understand the pressures and complexities of modern workplaces. I support clients dealing with stress, burnout, conflict, redundancy or uncertainty about their next steps, offering a grounded, non‑judgemental space to explore what’s happening and what you need.

Older adults

I work with older adults navigating life transitions, health changes or increased isolation. I understand how these shifts can affect confidence, identity and connection. I also offer gentle guidance for anyone who would like support becoming more comfortable with online counselling platforms.

My first session

Initial consultation

I offer a FREE, no‑obligation 15–20 minute telephone consultation, where we can explore what you’re looking for from counselling and I can answer any questions you may have. If you decide you’d like to begin therapy, we can then arrange our first 50‑minute session.

Our first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to start getting to know each other, to explore what brings you to counselling, and to talk about any expectations, goals or outcomes you have in mind.

Before we meet, I’ll send you some paperwork — including my client agreement and privacy statement — which we’ll also go through together in our first session.

Afterwards, you may feel ready to continue, or you might want some time to think things over. Either is absolutely fine; what matters is that the pace feels right for you.
