About me and my therapy practice
Something feels off and maybe it has for a long time. You might be caught in patterns you can’t seem to break, struggling with anxiety, fractured relationships, or a quiet sense of disconnection from yourself and the people around you. Perhaps there are things in your past that still shape your present in ways you don’t fully understand.
I specialise in working with complex trauma, personality difficulties, and the particular pain of finding relationships with others, and with yourself genuinely hard.
My work is relational and exploratory. Together, we’ll slow down enough to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, what drives your patterns, where they came from, and what might finally allow them to shift.
Qualifications
- MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, Birkbeck College, University of London.
- Certificate in Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy, The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
- BSc In Psychology, University of Reading.
Practice description
I will work with you to understand what support is best for you.
I am happy to provide a free 15 min telephone conversation prior to arranging an Initial Consultation to answer any questions you may have. You are welcome to contact me to arrange a brief telephone chat.
If you are interested in exploring more, please reach out to schedule an Initial Consultation. My initial consultation fee is £150 and our meeting will last 90 minutes.
Ongoing Counselling/Psychotherapy: From £90-130 but it depends on time and location. Your fee will be discussed on our initial consultation. I am able to offer concession rates in some instances.
What to Expect in Therapy
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and we will meet weekly.
Experience
In addition to my private practice, I hold honorary positions in a specialist NHS service, working with moderate to complex mental health problems. I also have been involved with a variety of LGBTQ+ mental health organisations.
I have helped people with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety and depression, trauma and abuse, relationship challenges, suicidal thoughts, alcohol and drug use, self-esteem and confidence, and significant life transitions, as well as more complex needs.
For years I worked for some of the largest Sexual Health clinics in the country, and have acquired a deep knowledge around sex, sexuality, and gender. By talking to me you can feel assured that I can listen to your intimate concerns and experiences with the respect and insight they deserve.
I am currently the community psychotherapist and clinical lead for a therapeutic recovery community for people people with personality disorders and psychosis and work with complex trauma.
My first session
First Session (aka. Initial Consultation)
It is normal to feel anxious about our first meeting. I am here to help you with whatever you might be struggling with. I would like you to feel assured that our first session will be an opportunity to explore things in a relaxing way. The aim of a first session is so we can understand the issue, and you can experience how therapy might work and ask any questions you might have.
Why do we have to have an Initial Consultation?
It is unhelpful to commit to any form of therapy without a general assessment first. My work therefore always begins with a thorough assessment to determine the nature of the problem, the most appropriate intervention and whether I would be the right person to help with this problem. The experience of the assessment should give you an idea of how I work, what is expected of you and what you can expect of me.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, AIDS/HIV, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Menopause, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Narcissism, Neurodiversity, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sensory impairment, Severe mental illness (SMI), Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
