About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.I offer a warm, collaborative, and confidential space for adults and young people (aged 11–17) to explore life’s challenges.
Finding the right support is vital. The connection between therapist and client sits at the heart of therapy that feels fulfilling, helpful, and safe. It is important that you feel genuinely understood and supported.
Feeling connected is essential to us as humans—whether that is the relationship we have with ourselves, our loved ones, or the world around us. Together, we can explore what might be standing in the way of those connections, helping you navigate whatever life is currently presenting.
I trained as a Person-Centred Therapist. This means walking alongside you with empathy, non-judgement, and curiosity as you explore your struggles and discover what you need to feel more at peace. You are the expert in your own life; my role is to support you to connect with your inner wisdom.
My practice is deeply inspired by the work of Carl Rogers, Marshall Rosenberg (Nonviolent Communication), Sarah Peyton, Irvin Yalom, and Viktor Frankl.
I also integrate Focusing, developed by Eugene Gendlin. Focusing is a gentle practice of opening to the wisdom of the body and listening to our inner experience with kind attention. As Gendlin wrote:
"The body knows the direction of healing and growth. It carries the next step of the process. If we listen to it with kind attention, it will show us the way forward."
This approach offers a powerful, grounding way to attune deeply to yourself and unlock stuck emotions.
Life and relationships can be incredibly hard at times. Although it may feel like it, you do not have to handle everything alone. Reaching out for support is an act of great strength and courage. Whether you are looking for support for yourself or a young person in your life, I consider it a privilege to accompany you.
Practice description
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are held weekly in a consistent slot reserved exclusively for you.How long your therapy lasts is entirely up to you and depends on your unique needs. We will discuss this together. Often, we might start with an initial six-week block, followed by a check-in to see if you would like to engage in longer-term work. We will continue to have regular reviews to ensure you are getting what you need from our sessions.
Where we will meet:
In-Person: In a peaceful garden room located in Ebley, perfectly situated between Stroud and Stonehouse. It offers a calm, private space to help you feel at ease.
Online: Secure, confidential sessions via Microsoft Teams from your own home.
My first session
For Adults:
We can begin with a free, short, no-obligation phone call so you can get a sense of me and if we are a good fit. You can call me directly or text/email to book a time that suits you. If you decide you would like to begin counselling, we will arrange your first full session either in person or online.
In our first session we will spend some time talking about what brings you to therapy at this time and what you would like to explore, we will also go over a counselling agreement to establish the container for our work together.
For Children and Young People (Aged 11–17):
The first step is usually a brief conversation with the parent or guardian to discuss logistics. Following this, the first session is an opportunity for the young person to meet me, explore the space, and decide if they feel comfortable working together. There is never any pressure, and their autonomy is respected from the very start.
