About me and my therapy practice
I'm a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor with a special focus in Neurodiversity.
My role is to facilitate self awareness and emotional resilience through understanding your experience. I consider working with clients as a privilege as we navigate various aspects of what life is like for you.
I provide a safe space without judgement, and together we look closely at aspects you find difficult or want to change, spotting patterns and noticing your thoughts and feelings through better self awareness.
I'd say my approach is firm but empathic, and I can be quite direct in challenging aspects where I feel it's needed.
My experience with neurodivergent clients means we can give context to why you might find certain things challenging and I've worked with a number of clients on Rejection Sensitivity, Demand Avoidance, Executive Dysfunction, ARFID, and other more severe forms of rumination, like obsessive compulsive tendencies.
I offer a free initial consultation over the phone or Zoom to find out more about your counselling needs and for you to decide if I would be a good fit for you.
Practice description
After a free initial consultation and if you've decided to go ahead with counselling, we'll decide on a session day and time that will be your slot every week. There is no set number of sessions required and we will continue working together until you decide to bring counselling to an end.
Other details such as my cancellation policy will be mentioned in the working agreement you can review before we start out first session.
Each session is 50 minutes long and we may review how the sessions are going every 6 sessions or so to make sure you that you are getting what you need from our time working together.
I'm committed to upholding the ethical framework of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø and maintain confidentiality, storing any notes I make outside of sessions in accordance with GDPR. I am fully insured and hold an advanced DBS.
My first session
Our first session will be after our initial consultation and will be 50 minutes long. During this time, I will gather more information about your current situation, past experiences of significances and discuss your goals for counselling in more detail. I also carry out an informal assessment of your overall mood, sleep and overall state of mind which we may refer to moving forward as we reflect on progress.
Talking about significant experiences of the past or present can be very sensitive and I'll be sure to allow you the space and time to share whatever you are comfortable sharing at your own pace.
I may take some initial notes during the session, however, I don't make notes in sessions past this stage of gathering information.
