About me and my therapy practice
Practice description
Life can sometimes be tricky, sometimes it can be difficult and sometimes it can seem impossible to us as adults. The same is true for children and adolescents. It is perfectly normal for them to struggle from time to time.
Neither psychotherapy nor counselling will make problems and challenges go away but they can help us and our children cope, come to terms with and grow through what is going on.
I believe that, regardless of the client's age, they are at the centre of psychotherapy and counselling. They determine what they do and do not talk about, what they do, the pace at which they work and how many sessions they have. It is my job to facilitate this process, to listen, to support, to make suggestions and to keep them safe when things get tough.
I also believe that play is the ³¦³ó¾±±ô»å’s natural world, it is where they discover, learn and grow. It is an integral part of working with children of any age and where I seek to meet the child at their level and on their terms. It may also be part of working with adolescents alongside talking and other interventions.
Sessions last for fifty minutes and are conducted in accordance with the ÌÇÐĹÙ꿉۪s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and, where appropriate, with the government’s Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.
My standard rate is £60 per session but I am flexible and happy to offer concessions where my full rate is simply not feasible.
My first session
I offer a free thirty minute initial telephone or video consultation to help you decide if you would or your child might like to work with me and for me to get a better understading of the help that may be needed.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a compassionate, collaborative and thoughtful supervisor in training, who may be a good fit for you as a fully qualified or trainee counsellor or psychotherapist.
Practice description
Finding the right supervisor for you is essential. Perhaps it is someone you can trust and you can be vulnerable with but equally someone who is willing to challenge and bring their own perception and experience to the conversation. Someone who can help you grow and develop whilst providing the best possible service to your clients.
I originally trained as a counsellor in 1992 and more recently completed an MSc in Counselling (Children and Young People). I work integratively with adults, adolescents and children with a bias in favour of person centred therapy supplemented by a good working knowldeg of other modalities. My thinking is informed by attachmnent theory, TA and IPNB in particular.
As a therapist and a supervisor, I specialise in addiction, trauma, relationships, anxiety, childhood issue resolution, parts work and play therapy. In addition to my private practice, I am Head of Counselling and Psychotherapy at an addiction recovery service and a school counsellor at a Birmingham secondary school. I have extensive experience of working with a wide range of clients and communities.
I am part way through the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision, a level six qualification, and am in the process of completing my practice hours prior to qualifying. I am happy to offer supervision online at a nominal or even a nil cost as I complete my training After that fees are negotiable with concessions available to counselling and psychotherapy students and to recently launched practices.
