About me and my therapy practice
Hello i'm Alex, a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, fully qualified integrative counsellor, registered with the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø.
It can be hard to find the words to say how we are feeling or what we are thinking whether it be related to our past or present. With me, you can come as you are, with or without a diagnosis and with no pressure or expectation just to experience affirming therapy.
No topic is off limit, no matter how embarrassing or shameful it may feel. I strive to create a space to foster emotional understanding.
I have a professional background supporting those in distress for over 20 years and have worked as a counsellor within addiction support and grief and loss charities before moving to private practice.
You may be experiencing, low mood, stress, anxiety, loneliness, a lack of confidence, bullying, low self-esteem, trauma, grief and loss, anger issues, feeling lost or stuck, pet loss, shame, alcohol misuse, family issues, life transitions, relationship issues, parental issues and more.
I have particular interest with neurodiversity. Working frequently with social interactions, sensory sensitivities, executive functioning, emotional regulation, demand avoidance, rejection sensitivity disorder (RSD), overwhelm and burnout. I work to celebrate and respect neurological difference. To find strategies that actually align with your natural cognitive style, rather than forcing you to fit into neuro-typical boxes, to find tools to apply to aide daily life or those who support neuro-diverse individuals.
I incorporate creativity, or regulation tools to help you feel more comfortable and reduce anxiety. We may mix sessions up a bit, incorporating music or using creative tools like drawing or crafts to enhance your experience.
In our sessions, we can explore what is affecting you, explore patterns that have developed over time, and consider what might help you feel more supported, understood, and able to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Practice description
I work with adults of all ages (18-180) and children and young people (10-18).
I aim to help you reduce discomfort and better understand yourself, to find clarity and empower you to make meaningful, positive changes in your life, completely at a pace directed by you.

Speaking with a counsellor who offers impartial support can help you navigate personal challenges and discover lasting solutions.
I will guide you to understand and manage your emotions and behaviours more constructively hopefully allowing you to take greater control of your life.
Each counselling session is tailored to your individual needs and therapeutic goals, ensuring a bespoke approach that suits you.

About me and my therapy practice
My name is Alex and I am an integrative counsellor. I am a member of ÌÇÐĹÙÍø (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
My aim is to listen and provide a warm, compassionate, supportive therapeutic space for you. Whether you are struggling, feeling lost, stuck, burnt out or overwhelmed. We can work together to help you figure it out.
With me you can explore your feelings without the fear of judgement, reduce anxiety, gain clarity, and work towards healing and personal growth. I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey at a pace that suits you.
I work in a neuro affirming way, where I prioritise understanding your unique experiences and aspirations, guiding you through transformative processes that hopefully lead to positive change and fulfilment.
I believe that when we understand ourselves and our life situations we can begin to shift the discomfort of emotionally distressing times.
Introducing new ways to cope and self care can build our confidence in taking one small step at a time to change our current situations. The relationship we can build will hopefully enable you to begin to explore what's keeping you stuck, what's driving it and ways that you can unlock yourself from past thinking and behaviours that you no longer feel comfortable with. In essence, you learn to become your own therapist.
If this sounds like the kind of support you need feel free to reach out if you'd like to learn more or schedule a session.
