About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Tara.
Does life feel like you're going in circles. Perhaps you’re going through the motions or feel caught between wanting change and not knowing how to move forward? Relationships, work, navigating a life transition or long-standing responsibilities, can leave us feeling flat, emotionally drained or even unsure of ourselves and what we need.
I offer a warm compassionate space where you can slow down, be heard, and start to explore what feels difficult. In our work together, there is no pressure to justify your experiences, and there is no judgement, giving you the space to begin making sense of things and feel a little less overwhelmed.
You don’t need to have a specific problem or know what to say, just a willingness to give yourself the chance to be heard.
I trained as a counsellor later in life, and both my professional experience alongside my personal life journey, have shown me life isn't always neat and easy, I know what it feels like to experience fear, doubt or sadness. I feel them too, and I bring that awareness into our sessions.
As a person centred counsellor, I know a trusting therapeutic relationship is key, so you feel comfortable to talk openly without fear of criticism, focusing on building a genuine and respectful space.
I know it may be hard to start counselling, and maybe you don’t know what to expect? You are not alone. Send me an email, text message or give me a call and we can discuss what you would like to get from counselling, and any concerns you may have starting.
Practice description
I run a private practice, offering counselling online and also by phone.
I provide a professional, confidential and safe space to work with you to support a range of difficulties.
I have a particular interest in supporting clients who feel:
Stuck or overwhelmed
Burnt out, disconnected and emotionally exhausted
As though they are masking their needs or identity
Low in self-worth or lacking confidence
Stress or anxiety
Depression
Are navigating life transitions, including menopause and peri-menopause
Caring responsibilities or being the one that is holding everything together.
Alongside my counselling training, I bring over 20 years' experience supporting children with Speech, Language and social-communication differences, including Autism, and working closely with their families. I have seen first hand the pressures, challenges and emotional load that long term caring or professional roles can bring and explore this with care, kindness and compassion.
Please note, I work part-time and aim to respond to any messages with 24 hours.
My first session
I am a fully qualified counsellor trained in the person-centred approach, so it's not my job tell you what to do, however it is my job to ensure you feel comfortable enough to talk to me, and I will work with you to explore your own path at your pace.
The first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to counselling, and to see if working together feels right, as it's important that you find the therapist that is the best fit for you.
It may feel overwhelming, however it's ok to ask questions, and I aim to ensure you feel empowered and go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
