About me and my therapy practice
Who I work with
I am an adult integrative counsellor and coach, also qualified to work with children aged 11-18 years.
How I work
I offer you a non-judgmental space where you can explore all aspects of your life, past and present, with empathy and understanding. Counselling can help you to understand yourself, your beliefs and behaviours with a new insight and compassion.
I draw on different counselling approaches, including Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as coaching techniques, to inform my work so that it is best suited for you. I may suggest different strategies, including guided relaxation and meditation, as well as sensory integration techniques and Havening, which you can read more about here- https://www.havening.org/
Experience
I have worked in the field of mental health for twenty years, and I have learned that the struggles we face are part of our common humanity. Counselling can help you to understand that your anxiety, depression or harmful behaviours are not a sign that something is wrong with you, but are part of your story that deserves care and understanding.
Trauma informed
I work from a trauma-informed position. I understand that trauma is not always visible, yet its effects can deeply influence how you feel, connect with others, cope, and navigate the world around you. I recognise that these experiences can live in the body and mind in complex ways, and I offer you a compassionate space where you will be met with respect and care. I have extensive experience working with survivors of sexual and physical abuse. I understand the criminal justice process and procedures. From my experience, feeling safe is the first step towards healing and meaningful change.
Specialism
I specialise in counselling neurodivergent adults and children and their families, drawing on my own lived family history with neurodiversity.
Practice description
Ways of working
I work with clients face-to-face, online or by telephone.
Sessions
I offer both short-term counselling (typically 6–12 sessions) and open-ended psychotherapy. Whether you have a specific goal in mind or a complex issue to explore, we will work together to identify your needs. To ensure you get the most out of our time together, I will regularly check in to review how you are finding the process and discuss any adjustments you would like to make.
Other ways to work
I am a Rewind practitioner using this effective technique to address traumatic memories. You can read more about the Rewind technique here - https://www.iartt.com/
I offer creative therapies, which can be useful when people find traditional talk therapy limiting. It is another way to help you process and express yourself in ways that you may not have been able to before. I am a member of the Creative Counsellors Community.
Children and Young People
I offer a nurturing space where your child or teen can understand and learn about their emotions and feelings at their own pace and in their own style. I use a variety of tools, including creative therapies. I will work with your child to develop coping strategies and tools to support them through the challenges of adolescence and beyond.
Specialised counselling
I specialise in working with neurodivergent children, young people, and their families. I know that transitions like moving to secondary school or moving into adulthood can feel daunting, whether your path involves mainstream school, EOTAS, or home education. For parents, I can offer a quiet place to process and gain clarity away from the 'system'. My goal is to provide your family with a demand-free environment where you can better understand your child’s unique needs. I also support university students (including those with DSA funding), helping them navigate higher education with the insight and support around executive functioning challenges.
My first session
If you are wondering whether I might be a good match for you, please get in contact, and we can arrange a free initial 15-minute appointment.
This is a good way for you to get a sense of what working together may feel like. We can talk about your needs and discuss how we might work together before you decide if what I offer sounds helpful.
