About me and my therapy practice
You might be used to getting on with things. From the outside, it can look like you're coping. But underneath, it doesn't always feel that way.
Your mind might not switch off. You might overthink, feel on edge, or find things build up and then spill over. Sometimes people come with a clear sense of what's wrong. Other times, it's just a feeling that something isn't quite right.
You don't need to have the words for it straight away.
I offer a space where things can be talked about at your pace. We can take time to understand what's been happening for you, without rushing to fix or explain it all too quickly.
My way of working is compassionate and thoughtful. I'll follow your lead, while helping you gently make sense of what's going on underneath, whether that's linked to past experiences, current pressures, or patterns that have become hard to shift.
I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor with a Distinction in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Post Grad Level 7), and an undergraduate and masters degree in Psychology. I am trained in multiple therapy approaches which means we have the flexibility to shape the type of therapy to suit your unique needs and experience.
Practice description
I work with people who are dealing with things like anxiety, low mood, grief, or a general sense of feeling stuck.
You might notice you're constantly thinking things through, going over conversations, or struggling to switch off. You might feel overwhelmed more easily than you used to, or unsure why things feel as difficult as they do.
We slow things down and look at what's going on, in a way that feels manageable.
That might mean making sense of your thoughts and feelings, or noticing patterns in how you relate to yourself or others. There's no pressure to go anywhere you're not ready to go.
Some people want to focus on what's happening now. Others begin to make links to earlier experiences. We can find a way of working that fits for you.
I have experience working with childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, low self-esteem, life transitions, loss of identity, perimenopause, neurodiversity and sexuality. I also have a specialist interest and experience in perinatal and postpartum care. I work with baby loss, stillbirth, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, abortion, medical termination, infertility, secondary infertility, and the unique grief and loss of losing a baby and the dream of a baby.
My first session
The first session is simply a chance to meet and see how we get on. I offer a free 20 minute intro call via telephone or online chat where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There's no expectation to explain everything, and no pressure to get it "right".
We'll talk a bit about what's brought you to therapy, and you can ask any questions about how I work. I can also explain what ongoing sessions might look like, so you have a clearer sense of what to expect.
