About me and my therapy practice

Experienced counselling therapist with over 15 years experience working with adults and young people, covering relationships, bereavement, trauma, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, anger , grief, guilt, loneliness, divorce, job loss, infertility, low self-esteem, low self worth, self harm, work stress and major life changes like retirement. Therapy provides a space to slow things down and explore those experiences safely and at your own speed.

My approach is warm, grounded and tailored to you, recognising everyone is unique. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself without fear or any judgement. I work with person-centred values such as empathy and authenticity, I also work in a practical and reflective way to help clients build insight and resilience.

Whatever the issue is therapy can help you make sense of your experiences and move forward. I offer face to face sessions in Portsmouth/Southsea or online I appreciate reaching out can feel daunting but together we can explore what's going on for you at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

I offer a free initial 10 minute telephone call.

Practice description

I work in a Person centred way, which means our sessions are led by you and what feels most important to bring to our sessions.  There is no pressure to have the 'right' words or to share more than you feel ready to, we will always go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Together, we can begin to make sense of how you feel, explore your thoughts and feelings and find ways to manage things more easily.  My aim is to support you in building greater understanding, confidence and a sense of being more able to cope with the challenges you're facing.

My first session

The first appointment is a full 50 minute session. This a great opportunity for us to meet each other and hopefully give you a sense of what counselling feels like.

I work from home in the heart of Southsea or I offer online sessions, whichever is best for you.

We discuss confidentiality and paperwork that is completed prior to the first session.  We can go through the paperwork answering any questions you may have regarding this.

Then, at your own pace, we will talk about what is bringing you to counselling along with any goals, changes or outcomes you might like to achieve.
