About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my practice.

I’m Adeola, a qualified integrative counsellor (MÌÇÐĹÙÍø). I've worked within the NHS and private practice, supporting people from different backgrounds with a wide range of issues.

Using an integrative approach, I support individuals with anxiety burnout, relationship difficulties, career change, retirement, redundancy, infidelity, divorce, bereavement, becoming a parent or infertility, trauma and disconnection.

My aim is to listen attentively and create sessions where you feel safe enough to talk about what's really going on.

Anxiety and overwhelm

" I'm exhausted from holding everything together"

" My anxiety is affecting my work"

" I don't recognise myself anymore"

" I can't switch off"

Perhaps you're experiencing racing thoughts, tightness in your chest, trouble sleeping, little pleasure in doing things, feeling like a failure. If you're looking for an anxiety therapist, please get in touch.

Trauma and disconnection

It's possible that you have a flatness you can't shake. Feeling disconnected. Going through the motions or feeling hopeless and alone even when you're not.

Relationship problems

This includes communication that's broken down, betrayal, infidelity, distance from a partner, patterns you keep repeating, and or conflict that never seems to resolve.

Life transitions

As we move through life, career changes, retirement, redundancy, separation, divorce, bereavement, becoming a parent or infertility. The moments when everything shifts and the ground feels unsteady.

Complex emotions and burnout

You could be feeling a type of exhaustion that rest doesn't fix. The creeping feeling you've lost yourself somewhere along the way. People pleasing, often saying Yes when you really mean to say NO.

Clients often describe me as a steady guide, warm and practical.

You don't have to face these challenges alone. Together, we can work towards helping you move beyond surviving and towards a more fulfilling, balanced, and authentic life.

Practice description

I recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and draw on a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches.

Integrative approach:-

 * Psychodynamic: Exploring unconscious processes, past memories and events

* Attachment styles : Making sense of your early relationships, patterns and behaviour

* Person-centred:Strengthening your Innate capacity to heal and grow

* Gestalt: Bodily experiences-"Your felt sensations hold the truth"

* Transactional analysis: Understanding your parent, adult and child ego states to build your autonomy

 * Existential: Making meaning of life and choices

* Solution-focused: Establishing coping mechanisms for current challenges

Relational Approach:-

I work relationally to establish a therapeutic alliance through active listening, reflection and curiosity. Being able to create a safe and trusting space for you to talk about what's causing you pain and distress in a way you feel heard and understood is an important step in our processing.

Trauma informed:-

Instead of asking " What's wrong with you?". The shift is to give space to talk about " What happened to you?'' in a sensitive and caring way, ensuring your past experiences are held with safety and trust and at a pace you are comfortable with.

Culture Aware:-

I also bring a culturally aware lens to my work, meaning I consider your background, identity, culture and family expectations may contribute to how you experience mental health.

Client testimonials have included-:

"I instantly felt comfortable speaking to Adeola and left sessions feeling understood, lighter, more positive...at the end of sessions, we recap the most helpful talking points which is a great way to lock in what I've learnt"-E.H

"Each session gave me space to reflect, gain clarity and set meaningful goals..thank you for being a steady guide"-A.I.O

"My sessions were fantastic..I gained clarity and look forward to checking in from time to time"-T.A

Sessions can be delivered weekly and fortnightly.

My first session

Choosing the right counsellor is an important decision and that's why I offer a free 20 minute introductory consultation so we can talk about what's brought you to therapy and see if we make a good fit. No pressure, no commitment, just a brief and honest conversation to see how therapy can help you.

In this session, I will also ask a few exploratory questions to understand you better. This will help to guide how we can work together in a way that's meaningful to you. We won't rush into things and work at your own pace.

I am also happy to answer any questions you may have about counselling.

If after our introductory session, we decide to work together, we can also agree on how many sessions are needed. To begin with, I suggest an initial block of 6 sessions which can be increased. The choice is yours and you are free to stop therapy whenever you decide. Although, clients who have suffered trauma, may require longer term therapy.

Our first full session after consultation will be to talk about your therapy goals and to provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns and work towards your desired goals. Sometimes this may include working to provide coping strategies to current challenges or woking to reduce trauma response symptoms from past events or present circumstances.

Reduced Fee Appointments- I believe therapy should be as accessible as possible and offer a limited number of four (4) concessionary spaces from £45 per session. If you are interested, please mention this when you get in touch as spaces are subject to availability. (Online sessions only).
