About me and my therapy practice
I work from a pluralistic and collaborative approach, meaning I tailor therapy to the unique needs and preferences of each client. I believe that no single approach fits all, so I draw from a range of psychological theories including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, and humanistic models to support clients in a way that feels meaningful and effective for them.
In our work together, I see therapy as a partnership. You are the expert in your own life, and I bring my professional knowledge and experience to walk alongside you. We will regularly check in on what’s helping, what’s not, and adjust our approach together. Whether you're struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or navigating grief and loss, I aim to create a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive of your growth.
Practice description
Hi my name is Colin and I am a counsellor at Fight or Flight Club Counselling and Therapy. You can find our team and full services at fightorflightclub.co.uk. Our practice is a calm, grounded space where you can slow down, breathe out, and talk freely without pressure.
People often tell me I’m easy to talk to, and that they appreciate feeling genuinely listened to. Creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and not judged is at the heart of how I work.
I take a flexible, collaborative approach to therapy. No two people are the same, so I adapt our work to your needs, your pace, and what feels meaningful to you. Sometimes that means exploring things gently and reflectively, other times it might feel more structured or focused. We’ll work together to find what supports you best.
Face-to-face sessions are offered in an office space in Glenrothes, and I also offer phone and Zoom sessions. My current availability falls on Mondays/Thursdays/Fridays and Walk and Talk sessions are also offered.
My first session
Before we begin our work together, I invite potential clients to have a free initial chat. This is a short conversation where we explore your reasons for seeking therapy, what you're hoping to gain, and whether I am the right fit for your needs. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions you might have about the process.
If we agree to continue, our first full session will include going through our working agreement and GDPR policy, so that you feel informed and clear on what to expect. The remainder of the session will be used to begin gently exploring what has brought you to therapy.
My standard rate applies for the first session, and I aim to ensure that clients feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning.
