About me and my therapy practice
Have you found yourself waking up with a racing heart beat or struggling to sleep due to various thoughts circling your mind?
Are you struggling to find joy, purpose, or meaning in everyday life?
Perhaps you’ve noticed yourself spending more time on your phone than you would like, trying to distract from difficult thoughts or feelings.
Do you feel lost and unsure who you are anymore?
Or perhaps it’s none of these and it is a feeling that something isn’t quite right, and you’re not sure where to start in making sense of it.
It could be that you have wanted support for a while but financially constraints and pressures have not allowed this?
Contact us,
Our service offers affordable face-to-face counselling in Derby city centre, with a small team of dedicated therapists ready to support you in moving towards a fuller, more enriching life, with immediate sessions available. Sessions start from £30.
Practice description
We support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-worth, neurodiversity-related challenges, eating difficulties, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and the lasting effects of traumatic childhood experiences.
The Wellbeing Body is led by an experienced therapist currently undertaking doctoral research exploring the long-term impact of childhood traumatic loss and adversity, with the aim of contributing to greater understanding and improved support for those affected.
Our aim is to offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported in working towards healing, understanding, and personal growth. Our service takes a neuroaffirming approach, recognising that differences in thinking, processing, and experiencing the world are a natural part of human diversity. Within our service there is both professional expertise and lived experience of neurodivergence, helping us create a space where clients feel genuinely understood.
The service is informed by extensive experience working within acute and community mental health settings. This involved therapeutic work with individuals experiencing significant distress, including those admitted following suicide attempts, serious self-harm, eating disorders, or complex social circumstances, as well as working alongside families and wider professional networks to develop psychological understanding and support plans.
In sessions, we work collaboratively to explore patterns and protective strategies that may have helped in the past but may now feel like they are holding you back. Where helpful, creative therapeutic tools such as drawing or visual exploration can be used to help express and process emotions when words feel difficult.
My first session
To begin your therapy journey with The Wellbeing Body, simply email enquiries@thewellbeingbody.com. We will then arrange a brief telephone consultation at a date and time that suits you.
This initial call gives you the chance to share what brings you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether our service feels like the right fit for your needs. There is no pressure and no obligation to continue.
If we feel like a good match, we’ll book your first full session and talk you through everything you need to know so you feel informed, supported and comfortable from the very beginning.
All enquiries are handled confidentially and with care. And if, for any reason, we are not the most suitable service for your needs, we will always offer signposting to appropriate support.
