About me and my therapy practice
I鈥檓 Anna a qualified counsellor offering online therapy across the UK. I live with ME/CFS and CRPS which gives me a lived understanding of chronic illness and the impact it can have on energy pain and day to day functioning. I bring this awareness into my work in a grounded and realistic way especially when supporting people who are feeling exhausted overwhelmed or limited by long term physical or emotional strain.
I specialise in supporting adults who are living with trauma addiction neurodiversity including ADHD and autism and LGBTQ plus experiences
I hold a qualification in addiction support and have experience supporting people affected by substance use alongside mental health difficulties and trauma. I understand how substance use can often be connected to coping with overwhelming experiences and I work in a non judgemental and grounded way meeting people where they are rather than making assumptions about their situation.
My approach is warm collaborative and non judgemental. I often work with people who feel overwhelmed stuck in painful patterns or exhausted from carrying things alone for too long. Together we create a space where you can make sense of what has happened in your life understand how it affects you now and begin to move forward at your own pace.
When working with someone I focus on being present steady and genuinely human. I listen closely and allow the person to set the pace of the conversation. I am comfortable with silence and strong emotion and I do not rush towards solutions. My priority is helping someone feel safe enough to stay with what they are sharing especially when it feels painful or overwhelming.
If you choose to work with me we will go at a pace that feels manageable for you. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If counselling feels like it might help you are welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation to see if it feels like the right fit.
Practice description
Therapy with me is a collaborative and supportive space where you can talk openly about what is going on in your life without fear of judgement or pressure.
Sessions are online and take place in a private space of your choice. You do not need to prepare anything or have the right words. We start wherever you are that day. Some sessions may focus on something immediate or practical, while others may feel more reflective as we begin to explore patterns, experiences and emotions over time.
I also have experience supporting people in distress through crisis support work, which means I am comfortable staying present with strong emotions and supporting you through difficult or overwhelming moments in a steady and containing way.
I also live with ME/CFS and CRPS which gives me a lived understanding of chronic illness and how it can affect energy, pain, emotional wellbeing and daily functioning. This informs a gentle and realistic approach to pacing, consistency and expectations within therapy.
There is no expectation for you to tell your story in a particular way or to move at a speed that does not feel manageable. My role is to listen closely, help you make sense of your experiences, and support you in understanding yourself more clearly in a way that feels safe and possible for you.
Some people come for short term support focused on a specific issue, while others choose longer term therapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences. We can think together about what feels right for you and review this as we go, so therapy remains useful and relevant to your needs.
At the heart of my practice is a belief in the importance of a safe therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected and not judged. Therapy with me is about creating a space where you can be yourself, including the parts that feel difficult to share, and where we can work together at a pace that feels steady and manageable for you.
