About me and my therapy practice

I am a person-centred counsellor, offering sessions either online or by telephone. The foundation of my practice is to offer a warm, grounded and safe space for you to be yourself, exactly as you are, and explore anything that may be troubling you.

Human being to human being, I aim meet you where you are with my compassion, empathy and authenticity. Built upon trust, our therapeutic relationship could provide a safe holding space for emotional exploration guided and paced by you.

The power of feeling truly heard and understood is something I have not only witnessed as a counsellor, but also as a client myself. Personally, I went from feeling lost and overwhelmed in my emotions, to feeling attuned to and empowered by them. It is my hope that our therapeutic work would bring about a similar meaningful change for you, whatever that may look like.

Importantly, I recognise that accessing counselling isn't always an easy step to take; particularly where trust can feel hard to build, or where barriers of guilt, embarrassment or shame are felt. With this in mind, it feels significant to highlight the immense sense of privilege I feel to be trusted, let into individuals' lives and work alongside their most vulnerable selves.

Practice description

What is person-centred counselling?

For me, the person-centred approach to counselling has provided a way of working with people which strongly aligns with my personal philosophy; that is, the power of holding a safe and compassionate space for you to feel heard, validated and furthermore, connected with your inner resources to help yourself.

Person-centred theory believes the core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, all held by the counsellor and felt by the client, provide fertile soil within the therapeutic relationship for personal growth. I strive to offer these core conditions to the best of my ability during our therapeutic relationship.

Rooted in a deep respect for the client’s expertise of their own experience, the counselling I offer is non-directional and, therefore, led by you. Within our therapeutic relationship, I will follow your lead and pace as you wish to explore any difficulties you are facing. My focus will be to see and feel your experiencing as if it were my own, offering you a warm and compassionate companion to explore whatever may be troubling you.

Training and background

I am trained and qualified at postgraduate level 7 in person-centred counselling.

I am a fully registered member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I attend regular supervision to ensure my practice is grounded, safe and attuned to your needs.

Before going into private practice, I worked as a volunteer counsellor within two charities. My work experience prior to counselling has been in mental health settings, predominantly in the community.

Alongside my private practice, I work therapeutically with individuals impacted by rape and sexual abuse. The trauma informed lens required for my employed role is embedded into my way of being.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute initial meeting (online or by telephone) which is the opportunity for you to ask me any questions before deciding if commencing your therapeutic journey with me feels right for you.

I believe the therapeutic alliance is key to generating meaningful change. Therefore, offering this free initial meeting for you to get a feel for me and, what our therapeutic work together could look like, feels of upmost importance to my practice.

Please know, there is no pressure for you to make a decision within this 20 minute initial meeting.

While I encourage and welcome all enquiries, I am particularly interested in working with individuals on their fertility journey, experiencing pregnancy and/or postpartum.

If you have any questions about my counselling practice, please contact me by email through the link above.
