About me and my therapy practice
How Can I Help?
I am a qualified, registered humanistic counsellor providing online therapy and in-person sessions in Leighton Buzzard.
I help adults make sense of complex emotions, break habitual patterns, and move toward a more authentic, grounded way of living. To me, humanism means trusting that you are the ultimate expert on your own life. My role is not to analyze you from a distance, but to provide a non-judgmental space where we can safely explore your real, unfiltered experiences together.
Our work together typically moves through four stages:
Awareness: Noticing what is happening for you in the present moment, how you are reacting, and why.
Acceptance: Acknowledging what is true right now, without judgment or self-criticism.
Autonomy: Stepping into the freedom to choose whether to keep repeating old behaviors or try something new.
Empowerment: Building the concrete internal resources and skills to make those new choices stick.
What this looks like in practice
Therapy is shown to be most effective when conducted in a transparent, non-judgmental partnership. My main aim is to foster an environment of trust and collaboration for that relationship to develop. My approach is built on the premise that people are not problems to be solved. I am simply interested in how you experience the world, and how that impacts your well-being.
This might mean I reflect what you’ve said so you can hear it in a new way, ask questions to clarify your thoughts, or offer a different perspective for you to consider. Sometimes we might work through compassion exercises, thought experiments, or mindfulness tools like breathing and grounding techniques. Whatever helps you feel supported and resourced.
Practice description
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in a variety of roles, from watersports instructor and bar supervisor to operations manager for a small online business. But from a young age, I had a desire to support others. In 2020, taking advantage of some time on furlough, I took a leap and enrolled in an introductory counselling course at a local college.
A little less than 5 years of training later, I graduated from the Metanoia Institute with a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling.
During my training, I had the privilege of volunteering at charity counselling services. I worked in both long and short-term therapy, helping people with a range of needs. From working with young adults, transitioning from school to college, or college to the working world, to working with survivors of sexual abuse and assault, these experiences that shaped the therapist I am today.
I have had additional training in:
Trauma Informed Therapy
Working with Shame in Therapy
Online and Phone Therapy
Safeguarding
Areas of Interest
I have a particular interest in working with people who experience the intense emotions, relationship difficulties, and identity struggles which are often associated with personality disorders. I view these as profound, creative adaptations to difficult life circumstances. Whether you are navigating intense emotional shifts, identity questions, or difficult relationship cycles, I offer a space where you can be seen in your entirety, without the fear of being judged or seen as "too much."
