About me and my therapy practice
I’m an open and approachable counsellor offering a warm, calm environment in which you can explore difficult feelings and issues without judgement, and at your own pace.
I work from a welcoming space in Peckham, as well as online, with individual adults and young people who may be living with depression, low mood, anxiety or loss. I have particular experience supporting people through bereavement and grief, as well as specialist experience in fertility issues and the impact of adoption.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a writer and published author. My natural curiosity about people and their stories brought me into contact with individuals from many different backgrounds, and walks of life, which I believe has helped me become a more thoughtful, broad-minded and effective counsellor.
Practice description
My training is in integrative counselling, which means I draw upon different therapeutic approaches and adapt them to your individual needs. It may be helpful to explore how early experiences or past relationships are affecting your life in the present, or you may want to focus on a current challenge or difficulty.
I’ve also trained in somatic-informed counselling, which focuses on the connection between mind and body. This can be helpful in exploring how stress, anxiety and past experiences may affect us physically as well as emotionally.
Whichever approach we take, talking things through in a collaborative, down-to-earth and empathic way can help bring clarity, acceptance and change.
Alongside my private practice I work with a bereavement organisation supporting people through grief and loss. I have specialist experience in working with loss around infertility and also work with the lifelong impact of adoption, including supporting adult adoptees, adoptive parents and birth family members.
I offer both short and long term counselling. Short term work typically lasts between six and twelve sessions, and focuses on a specific issue or goal.
Long term or open-ended counselling allows more space for deeper exploration and includes regular reviews of how you are finding our work together.
My first session
Our initial, 50 minute session is offered at a reduced rate. This is an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy, and to ask any questions about the way I work. It's also a chance for us to consider whether we're the right fit to work together.
