About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can feel difficult and overwhelming. Whether there are clear reasons for this or not, you may find yourself feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed.

Perhaps you are living in the shadow of painful memories or experiences that are difficult to process or make sense of but affect your self-esteem, relationships, or career. You may find yourself repeating unhelpful behavioural patterns, feeling constantly on edge, or experiencing intrusive thoughts. Perhaps you minimise your feelings, telling yourself that "it will pass" or that "it's nothing compared to what others are dealing with." You may struggle to put your emotions into words because they feel too painful to face, or you may worry about burdening others with your problems, leaving you feeling alone and misunderstood.

You are human, and sometimes we all need the right support and conditions to help us move forward. This is where I can help.

I offer a confidential, safe, and supportive space where you can explore your emotions and experiences with warmth, empathy, and without judgement. I understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but I will work alongside you to help you feel heard and understood, and to make sense of how your life experiences have shaped you. In our sessions, you will have the opportunity to explore whatever feels important to you, at a pace that feels right.

I work from a humanistic perspective, which means I approach our sessions with empathy, honesty, curiosity, and without judgement. This creates a space where you can feel accepted and supported, while also helping you explore your thoughts, feelings in greater depth.

Alongside this approach, I can integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an action-oriented approach that can help you develop greater psychological flexibility and identify meaningful ways of moving forward. This can support you in building a more compassionate relationship with yourself and finding greater peace and fulfilment in life.

Practice description

My practice is rooted in the person-centred approach, which means I will listen deeply and reflect on your thoughts and feelings with care, empathy, and without judgement.

I will support you in understanding your emotions and, where appropriate, uncovering deeper feelings that may have been suppressed or overlooked over time.

I also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can be especially helpful for building resilience, developing self-awareness, and creating a stronger sense of direction and meaning in life. I offer a tailored therapeutic experience because I believe that no two clients are the same.

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I understand the importance of working safely, gently, and at a pace that feels right for you when trauma is present or emerges during our sessions.

If you feel comfortable, I can also help you feel more grounded through simple breathing and grounding techniques. However, our time together is always yours to use in the way that feels most helpful and supportive to you.

My aim is to create a trusting and meaningful therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to open your heart and mind. Over time, this can encourage growth, healing, and a deeper connection to your own inner resources, strength, and insight.

My first session

Prior to our first session, I will send you a copy of our therapeutic contract which will outline how I work and how we can work safely together.

We can then discuss this further in our first session if needed where I can answer any questions you may have. We will then discuss what brought you to therapy initially a begin our therapeutic journey.

I understand how daunting the first session can be so I will guide you calmly and at your own pace.
