About me and my therapy practice
I support people with a range of emotional and life challenges, many of which involve experiences of loss. This may be a bereavement, the ending of a relationship, or estrangement. The loss may be recent, or it may be something from the past that continues to affect life in the present.
You may be experiencing denial and struggling to accept the reality of your situation. You might feel angry, resentful or overwhelmed by a sense of injustice. Perhaps you find yourself ruminating on alternative realities and thinking 鈥渋f only鈥︹. For some, grief can bring deep sadness, depression, emptiness, loneliness or a feeling of being stuck. Often, many emotions become tangled together during the grieving process, leaving things feeling confusing and overwhelming.
Sometimes it can be hard to find the right person to speak to. You may feel you have reached the limits of downloading to your family and friends or perhaps they are grieving too and you don鈥檛 want to burden them. Or it may be that there are sides to your loved one that you can't share openly or a perspective that doesn't match others'. Talking to someone who did not know that person, can make room for more honest reflection.
I help those who want to push through, to unravel and reflect on all that they are feeling. I am here to listen to you and walk with you through your grief. In this way, you can hopefully find a way to navigate a path forward to a place of acceptance and begin to adapt to your new reality.
Alongside my private practice, I volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support, offering specialist support to adults coping with loss and grief. My wider training includes trauma-informed practice, supporting my work with clients who have experienced distressing life events and emotional challenges.
Having previously worked as a secondary school teacher, I was drawn to a second career in counselling as an opportunity to engage more deeply with people and to work in a role centred on meaningful human connection.
Practice description
In-person & Online
I offer counselling in person in Shoreham-by-Sea and Hove, and online. My therapy studio in Shoreham is a private, calm, cosy room in my garden and is located in a peaceful, residential area of town. I also work from professional therapy rooms in central Hove.
Approach
I am an integrative therapist and I draw upon a few approaches, tailoring what I offer to best support you. This means that I as well offering a safe and empathic space to work through current difficulties, at times we may explore at how earlier experiences and your unconscious patterns of behaviour are influencing the present. This can lead to greater freedom to make different choices as you grow.
Working with me
Whilst you find yourself in the depths of a loss, I can be a steady and calming presence to confide in. I am warm, down-to-earth, genuine and welcoming. It matters to me that you feel quickly at ease with me and comfortable to share your thoughts. You are the expert in your own experience, and you have choice and agency over what we explore in our sessions. I will support you to share your story, make sense of your experiences, and explore your emotions at your own pace.
I know how exhausting it can be to put up a front of holding everything together on the outside when you are crumbling within. Loss can be all-consuming and its ache can make you feel very small, heavy, dark and hidden; therapy can give you a wider perspective and restore colour to your world. I recognise the courage it takes to engage with therapy and how hard it can be to reach for help from someone you don鈥檛 yet know.
My first session
Introductory meeting
Please do get in contact if you鈥檇 like to explore working with me. We can arrange a free 30-minute call (online or by phone), where I鈥檒l listen to what鈥檚 going on in your life and you can decide if taking the next step with sessions feels right for you.
Next steps
If you wish to proceed, we can schedule a regular weekly 50-minute session. After our conversation, I would email you information about logistics and the counselling agreement so we share a clear understanding of how therapy will work.

In our first session, we鈥檒l review the agreement, answer any questions, and then begin focusing on exploring your experiences in depth.
