About me and my therapy practice
I believe that therapy can be transformative in allowing us to move forward, helping us understand how our past experiences have shaped us. Sometimes we can feel stuck or life’s challenges can feel overwhelming. Together, we can explore strategies and ways of coping which can help you. I work relationally, which means I believe that establishing trust is at the heart of our work together. Confidentiality and respect are fundamental elements of therapy, and I am committed to offering care that is respectful and responsive to your needs.
After working in the corporate world for many years, I now specialise as an integrative psychotherapist. I have undertaken extensive training in Psychotherapy at Birkbeck University, London and Regent’s University, London and an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional challenges, including but not limited to, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, abuse and bereavement.
One of the most important ways in which I work, is by making sure that the therapeutic relationship – the relationship between me and you – is established. Research has consistently proven that the therapeutic relationship can be one of the most important factors for change.
Practice description
By offering a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and behavioural patterns, and bringing them into awareness, I can help you feel more able to cope with challenging circumstances. As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw on a variety of theories and techniques to help inform my approach, and I will tailor our sessions according to what feels right for you. Our sessions will focus on the here and now, but we may also explore your past relationships, your background, work and current circumstances. This will allow us to understand your background and will form the basis of our work together.
My first session
Starting therapy for the first time can be daunting. However, it can be one of the most meaningful investments you can make in your wellbeing. The first session is for us to explore your reasons for coming to therapy and discuss how we might work together. It also an opportunity for you to choose a therapist who feels right for you as this is when the most meaningful work can take place.
During our first session we might explore your reasons for coming to therapy and what you hope to achieve from therapy. I may also ask some questions about you family, work and current relationships. This will allow me to gain a better understanding of your background and how we might work together.
If you would like to proceed, I will ask you to complete and sign a client agreement form which outlines my terms and conditions. Please note that I offer weekly sessions which are 50 minutes each. I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. I offer both short term and long-term work. The number of sessions will depend on your individual needs and circumstances.
