Availability
Appointments are available during the day, afternoon, and evening, and I aim to be as flexible as possible to meet your needs.
I know how important it is to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. If you feel a connection with what I’ve shared here, I encourage you to get in touch. I provide a free initial telephone consultation to discuss your goals, the reasons you are considering counselling, and to answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Markus — a Counsellor and Psychotherapist specialising in chronic illness, new diagnosis, and living with pain.
I support people living with long-term health conditions, as well as partners, carers, and family members affected by illness.
You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in mood, lost, or stuck — struggling to adjust to a diagnosis, manage ongoing symptoms, or cope with uncertainty, fatigue, or pain.
Chronic illness doesn’t just affect the body — it impacts your identity, relationships, work, and sense of future. It can feel isolating and difficult to explain to others.
Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I understand first-hand the emotional impact, loss of control, and ongoing adjustment that can come with an unpredictable condition.
These experiences often connect with anxiety, stress, low mood, identity changes, and feeling stuck — all of which we can explore together at your pace.
You don’t need a diagnosis to reach out — you may simply feel overwhelmed or not quite yourself, and want space to make sense of things.
I have a specialist interest in self-regulation and am trained in techniques that help you manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm, so you can feel more steady and in control day-to-day.
I work with:
Chronic illness and invisible illness
New or life-changing diagnoses (including MS)
Persistent pain and fatigue
Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
Low mood and depression
Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected
Identity changes and life transitions
Carers, partners, and family members
Therapy with me offers a calm, supportive, and confidential space where you can feel heard and begin to regain a sense of control.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, have been living with illness for years, or are supporting someone who is, therapy can help you process, adapt, and move forward in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
Practice description
I offer sessions in person at my private practice in Woking, as well as remote video and telephone sessions. This flexibility means you can access support in the way that feels most comfortable for you.
I am fully DBS checked.
As a therapist, I am caring, open, and genuine. I provide a safe and supportive space where you can talk freely about whatever is on your mind. Together, we will explore your challenges and work collaboratively towards the goals that matter most to you.
I have experience helping clients with a wide range of issues, always tailoring therapy to your individual needs so that you can get the most out of your counselling journey.
My first session
Your first session will be an assessment session, lasting around one hour. This session is designed to give me a clear understanding of you and the challenges you may be facing, so I can offer a service tailored specifically to your needs. It’s also your chance to ask any questions about counselling and to get a feel for how we might work together.
I know that a first session can sometimes feel a little nerve-wracking, but you’ll be welcomed into a safe, caring, and relaxed space. My role is to listen, support, and walk alongside you. Together, we’ll explore what kind of therapy might help you most, talk about the goals you’d like to work towards, and agree on the best way for us to move forward.
