About me and my therapy practice
I am a CBT therapist, counsellor, and registered mental health nurse with experience across forensic and community mental health services. I work with people who want to feel more in control of their thoughts, emotions, and day-to-day life.
I chose this field to offer a space where people feel understood, respected, and treated with dignity.
Having experienced what it can feel like to be overlooked, I bring a strong commitment to providing care that is thoughtful, well-boundaried, and genuinely compassionate.
Practice description
If you are looking for a therapist who values your individuality and works alongside you, I can offer a calm and supportive space where you can begin that work.
Therapy with me is not about putting you into a fixed model or rushing you toward quick solutions. It is about taking the time to understand you as a whole person, your thoughts, feelings, life experiences, and the behaviours that have shaped how you cope and connect with others.
I believe meaningful change happens when therapy feels safe, caring, and personal. We can work together at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on what matters most in your life rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. My role is to listen with warmth and curiosity, and to help you make sense of what you are experiencing while supporting you to move forward in ways that feel manageable and lasting.
I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and counselling that can explore early life experiences and how they may influence current behaviours and relationships. These approaches can be used on their own or combined, depending on your needs and goals. Sessions are guided by proven therapy methods while remaining flexible and shaped around you. Together, we can work toward meaningful changes that continue beyond the therapy room.
Therapy is not only about easing distress or difficult emotions. It can also be about building a kinder, stronger relationship with yourself. I can support you in developing healthier ways of coping, building resilience, and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. Over time, this can lead to greater confidence, emotional balance, and a clearer sense of direction in your life.
My first session
***Please note that all sessions are remote via Microsoft Teams or via telephone nationwide.***
Your first session is a chance for us to begin understanding what’s brought you to therapy and what you would like support with. We will go through practical details such as confidentiality and how sessions work and agree on a focus for our work together.
I will ask some questions about your background, current situation, and any previous support you may have had. We will explore your current difficulties at a pace that feels manageable and begin to identify what you would like to gain from therapy.
This helps me build a clear understanding of how we can work together in a way that is safe, effective, and tailored to you.
