About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Gillian and I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Edinburgh supporting people feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck.   

You might look like you鈥檙e coping, but inside, it can feel overwhelming. Perhaps your mind never switches off, you overthink constantly, or you feel stuck in patterns that leave you drained or anxious.

I provide a calm, confidential space where you can slow down, explore what鈥檚 going on, and start to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, at your own pace, in a way that feels right for you.

I work with adults (18 yrs+) experiencing:

鈥 Anxiety, stress, and overthinking.

鈥 Burnout or work-related pressures.

鈥 Life transitions and uncertainty.

鈥 Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself.

鈥 Relationship or interpersonal difficulties.

I also support people who struggle to ask for help, especially those used to 鈥渕anaging on their own.鈥 My own experience in professional, high-pressure environments means I understand the challenges of balancing expectations, responsibilities, and wellbeing.

Practice description

My approach is warm, thoughtful, and down to earth. I create a calm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and understood.

Therapy with me is collaborative:

鈥 We explore what is happening beneath the surface.

鈥 Identify patterns that may be holding you back.

鈥 Build clarity, self-trust, and practical coping strategies.

Sessions are structured around your needs, not a rigid framework. You will never be pressured to share more than you are ready for, but you will leave feeling understood and supported.

I offer counselling for both short-term, focusing on a specific issue, and open-ended for deeper exploration. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds. My practice is LGBTQ+ inclusive, trauma informed and values transparency and choice.

My first session

If you are curious about working together, I offer a free online 20 minute introductory session.  

This introductory session is where you can share in confidence, what brings you to counselling, and we can talk about what you'd like to gain from it. There is no pressure, it's simply an opportunity to see if working together feels right.
