About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or like you are constantly holding everything together for everyone else, while struggling to find space for yourself?

Perhaps you are a mother or parent carer who feels stretched in every direction, caught in cycles of guilt, people-pleasing, anxiety, or burnout.

You may find it difficult to say no, even when you are already at capacity, or feel like you are losing touch with who you are outside of your caring role.

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø, offering online counselling for women and mothers/parent carers who feel emotionally overloaded, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns of self-sacrifice and overwhelm.

Many of the people I work with are caring deeply for others while running on empty. They often describe feeling responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing, but unsure how to prioritise their own needs without guilt.

I have a particular interest in supporting mothers and parent carers, including those caring for children with additional needs or neurodivergence, where the emotional load can feel constant and relentless. I understand how easy it is for identity, rest, and personal needs to get pushed to the background in these roles.

My approach is integrative and relational, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs, while placing strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship.

I aim to offer a consistent, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, be heard, and begin to make sense of what you are carrying.

Sessions are led by you. There is no expectation to present yourself in any particular way, and we can work at a pace that feels manageable.

We will explore both current challenges and longer standing patterns such as people-pleasing, difficulty with boundaries, low self-worth, or feeling responsible for others’ emotions.

Our work together can also be through a spiritual lense, if you feel this is appropriate.

Practice description

I offer integrative counselling sessions on a one to one basis for women who are dealing with a wide range of issues. My experience includes working with:

- Depression/anxiety

- Motherhood / carer burnout

- Neurodivergence

- People pleasing

- Self esteem / confidence

- Pre/post natal depression & pregnancy related issues

- Relationship conflict / breakdowns

- Bereavement

- Self harm.

The main focus of our sessions will be our therapeutic relationship and creating a space where you can feel safe to share how you are feeling.

I am trained in a wide range of modalities and each session is tailored to you as an individual in a nurturing, warm and authentic way. My background in holistic therapies informs my approach, and I very much embody a whole mind/body/soul way of working.

Here are some recent testimonials from clients:

'Thanks so much, it takes me a lot to put trust in someone. I came to some realisations that will be so helpful moving forward. I struggle to put into words how special you are and how so very talented you are. The compassion and care you give are amazing, thank you for being a part of my journey.'

'Amy, I can hand on heart say after my first session with you, I felt so much lighter. You were so warming and allowed me to open up with things that deep down impacted me. The coping strategies you implemented have instantly helped and can honestly say you are the best at what you do.'

Sessions are for 50 mins remotely (via zoom) and are open ended, meaning there are no limits to the amount of sessions you can have. However, we will review how the therapeutic process is going intermittently to ensure you are getting the correct amount of care. You are able to cancel therapy at any time, however I recommend we speak about this first so that we can end our time together in a safe manner.

Sessions are normally offered weekly, however bi-weekly support can be arranged too. If you are on a low or reduced income, I am happy to have a discussion around concessionary rates.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute discovery call which be arranged over the phone or via zoom, whichever you prefer. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, as this work is highly relational and so it's important we feel like the right 'fit.'

We will complete a short initial assessment, where I will ask you a brief background of the reasons you would like to start counselling.

It's okay at this point if you don't know what your goals are, or if you aren't sure where to start - together we can work things out along the way.

There's no pressure to decide there and then if you would like to go ahead with sessions, and you can take some time to process how you feel.

If you would like to proceed, on our first session we will go through a contract, which outlines our boundaries within therapy including safeguarding and confidentiality.

Sessions cost £50 and I ask for payment 48 hours in advance to secure your appointment. If you are on a low income or student please feel free to mention this - I have a limited number of spots I can offer at a reduced rate.

It's a very much 'come as you are' approach - please try not to feel pressure to look a certain way for your session. Your comfort is priority, and at this point I really do think I've seen it all!

If you think we are aligned and I could be the right counsellor for you, please reach out - it would be great to hear from you.
