About me and my therapy practice
Having lived across different cultures and experienced significant life transitions, I understand how our histories, relationships, and cultural backgrounds can shape the way we see ourselves and others. I value the uniqueness of every person's story and believe that emotional difficulties are best understood within the context of their life experience.
Many of the clients I work with are navigating periods of change, loss, uncertainty, or transition. These may include relationship difficulties, separation or divorce, children leaving home, caring responsibilities, career changes, questions of identity and belonging, cultural adjustment, or the emotional challenges that can arise in mid-life and beyond. I have a particular interest in working with people who have experienced migration, cultural transition, or the challenge of building a life between different cultures. Respect, empathy, equality, and human dignity are central to my work.
I believe that meaningful change often begins when difficult feelings can be safely explored and understood rather than avoided. Carl Jung wrote: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." This idea reflects my approach to counselling. Our early experiences and unconscious patterns continue to influence us. Together, we can explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, and the capacity for lasting change.
Practice description
I work online and face-to-face, collaboratively and at your pace, offering a safe, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where difficult emotions can be explored and understood.
My interests include:
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Attachment, Relationships, Childhood Experiences, Self-Esteem, Bereavement, Identity, Cultural Issues, Migration, Emotional Difficulties, Personal Development, Post-Traumatic Stress, Disordered Eating, Women's Issues, LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy.
My first session
Our first session would be an initial 50-minute consultation, providing an opportunity for us to collaboratively explore your reasons for seeking therapy and any difficulties you may be experiencing. It is also a chance for us to consider whether we are suited to work together in a way that feels supportive and helpful for you.
Should we decide to continue, we would meet weekly for 50-minute sessions at an agreed day and time. The regularity of weekly sessions helps to create a safe, reliable, and confidential therapeutic relationship in which deeper exploration and meaningful change can take place.
