About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Rachel. Thank you for being here, I appreciate looking for someone to share your story with can be daunting. Come as you are, there is no judgement here and your journey matters.
A bit of career background -I worked in the education, send and mental health sectors for the past 15 years, including schools, college, GP practice, and university settings.
I currently work for 2 charities as a bereavement counsellor and wellbeing mentor alongside my private practice.
I support young people and adults who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or disconnected following intense life experiences.
If you are sat there thinking everyday is overwhelming with what to do next or feeling anxious. Are past traumas resurfacing? I am here when you are ready, lets work together.
My practice offers a calm space where you can pause and reflect on whatever is happening in your life. I work in a person-centred way, meaning our sessions are led by you and shaped around what feels most important and meaningful to explore. If you need a place to off load all your thoughts, you have reached the right place. I will meet you where you are at and we can walk the ups and downs together.
Practice description
Person centred therapy means the sessions are led by you. I will listen to your worries and you take the lead on what you want to talk about. We can start where you are at now, move back to the beginning, look at the future, it is up to you. I will listen with care and empathy. Trust takes time and therapy can be hard work, so let's work together on what you want out of the sessions and go from there. The beauty of the sessions is that what you say is confidential and you don't get judged for what you discuss; you don't receive the unwanted opinions or advice. If some tools to facilitate sessions are required and appropriate, this can be adapted and agreed together.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory session to give us both the opportunity to see whether we feel comfortable working together. It is the time to ask any questions too. Being comfortable and having that good gut feeling is vital for the therapeutic relationship to work.
