About me and my therapy practice
I offer face to face but will as needed, offer online or telephone counselling.
What I can offer –
Ask yourself this:
Do you wake up every day thinking life is just too hard or you are running on empty?
Do you or someone close to you have chronic or acute ill health issues , survive on medication, had to or may have to give up work or just struggling with life whatever the reason. You want it to be better but just at a loss on how to achieve this – you feel stuck?
I have been a Nurse and clinical teacher for over 25 years, working with patients who have acute and chronic ill health. It’s this experience, that has led me into counselling practice. I qualified from Abertay University in September 2025
My whole life centres around warmth, consideration and caring for fellow humans in ethical and compassionate professional relationships. This I will offer to you in my role as your counsellor. I will also offer support and facilitate self-exploration without judgement and help you identify your hopes for counselling whilst working together to help you in achieving these. I can support you as you develop new ways of thinking and achieving, working with your own inner resources to manage your problems while working together in a therapeutic partnership as you work to reduce the negative issues that may be impinging on your quality of life.
Works with:
Individual adults 18 years and over
I am also open to referrals from GP’’s, NHS services and also other counsellors.
Practice description
My philosophy of Counselling is to offer a safe, confidential, and professional space where you, the client, can explore personal difficulties, emotional issues, and life challenges.
Description of my Counselling Practice.
My qualification is in pluralistic counselling practice. I love pluralism because at the heart of this practice is the collaborative counselling/client therapeutic relationship.
I truly believe that you, the Client are the expert in You ! I want to learn from you on how best to support you as we walk along your counselling journey together.
Pluralism is also about the person of the counsellor- who I am as a human being. As I am also a practicing advanced practice nurse , my whole life centres around warmth, consideration and caring for fellow humans in ethical and compassionate professional relationships. This I will offer to you in my role as your counsellor. I will also offer support and facilitate self-exploration without judgement and help you identify your hopes for counselling whilst working together to help you in achieving these. I cannot offer direct advice or solve your problems for you, but I can help you develop new ways of thinking and achieving using your own inner resources to solve your problems and work to reduce negative issues that may be impinging on your quality of life.
I offer Counselling for:
Psychological distress resulting from the impact of any acute or chronic illness of the client or family members
Bereavement or any types of loss
Psychological distress as a consequence of any type of abuse and trauma
Life transitions and change
Lack of confidence and low self esteem
Anxiety and any type of situation leading to stress.
If what you are experiencing is none of these, please still feel free to contact me on my email address.
My first session
The first session is the foundation of my practice. I aim to create a warm and collaborative environment .This first session also gives you the chance to share your hopes for counselling, ask any questions and decide if you would like to continue meeting with me. To give you the best chance of making progress towards your hopes, I suggest coming for 4 sessions to start with. We can then review your experience and together decide on what will be most helpful for you. Sometimes circumstances change and you might want to pause or end counselling. I respect your decision but ask that kindly let me know.
In this first session we will spend time discussing our shared counselling contract. During this ,I introduce to you the ÌÇÐĹÙÍø ethical code which I am legally and ethically bound which includes the exceptions (Duty of Care) regarding confidentiality and legal requirements I must abide by for Data Protection and Record Keeping.
Also discussed is my cancellation and missed appointments policy
